Not, because I don't EDC because I'm a realist and not some loon who's either overly paranoid or looking for a gun fight. If I did EDC I'd Israeli carry because it's good enough for God's chosen people, and for reasons stated in previous sentence.

I never carry chambered. with kids around, its just an unessary risk.

carry with out one in the chamber, or heck, even sometimes without a mag in the gun. if you carry an unloaded gun, chances are 99.9999% you'll be able to get out of any situation by just presenting the firearm. that is all u need.

people that carry a loaded gun are 100% not ready for the consequences of using that firearm. we are talking about a human life here. much better to disengage, retreat, and draw an unloaded gun as a last case scenario.

Have you educated your kids about firearm safety? I could see why you wouldn't carry 1 in the chamber because of that.

Honestly learning your environment and reading peoples body language can do wonders for safety. on the flip side if you are ambushed one in the chamber can get you out of a sticky situation real quick.

I grew up in Chicago so i'm kind of desensitized to violence, taking a life as self defense probably wouldn't phase me too much, although i have never been in a shootout before it might just affect me the same.

buddy , i'll let u in on a little secret. during my former action hero years, nobody had chambered rifles in our unit. the lethality came from ordinance. if you get in a gunfight, the battle is already lost.

I don't do one in the chamber especially with my striker fired. Theres a guy who was a cop that shot himself in the azz with one in the chamber and backdraw holster. reached for it and shot himself. The way I was taught to pull the slide from the front end when grabbing from the holster for a quicker draw/ready to rock.

Also I feel safer in case some dip chit grabs my gun some how and doesn't know how to operate it.

The pin that holds the battery door to the body got worked out under recoil. Went missing somewhere.

I guess now there is no contact between the batteries and terminals? Light did not work at all. Oh well, ill hit up surefire.

exactly. Most situations will end when gun is presented, but the chance of that situation even happening are millions to one. By far, most DGU aren't even necessary. When people have a gun they feel cocky and escalate, putting themselves in more danger. Most people are safer without a gun.

Striker fired are probably more dangerous, especially ones like Glock that don't have a manual safety. If you don't have a manual safety you should absolutely have an empty chamber, imo.
With empty chamber AND manual safety on, you are in a much better position if someone grabs your gun out of your holster, especially a child. Much more time to get your gun back while they figure out why it won't shoot. Of course, this does not affect YOU drawing and shooting rapidly because you have (or should) trained to rack slide and disengage safety after draw.
