Isn't that the point of retirement? You've put your work in and now you're free to do whatever you want, even if that means rotting away. Let the man do what he wants unless it's harming himself which is his prerogative anyways.

It'll take time for him to get into a proper retirement routine my dad was the same, he retired at 55 and seemed like he was just trying to waste each day until he went on a holiday somewhere.

Little things bothered him that never would have when he worked. It took him maybe 2 years to get settled properly.

We are supposed to be human beings op, not human doings. Dont worry about it, it takes months and even a few years sometimes to really wind down from working all your life, thats probably what he needs to do 1st before pursuing interests
