A proper sequel to The Exorcist…This movie was written and directed by William Peter Blatty himself in just his second directorial effort.

I'm going to try to check out Tubi more. I didn't realize it until you brought it up in the Amazon prime thread how much they actually have on there. I browsed a bit last night and was surprised at their selection.

My problem is that I barely watch movies. A lot of that has to do with my kids choosing what they want to watch, and I go to bed early so I don't have time to watch anything in the evening.

I think I've asked you this before, I can't remember, but do you keep a movie log? Like do you have a pretty good idea of all the movies you've seen in the past 10 or 20 years?

I started keeping track of the movies I've watched about 5 years ago, it never occurred to me to keep track until then…I only have movies I'm sure I've seen and because I started it so late, I just couldn't remember for sure all the movies I'd ever seen before I started the list, and I also excluded all movies I'd seen on TV that were edited for any reason. The partial list has 1,700+ films on it, in reality its closer to 3k. I have a few friends that have seen 3k-5k movies and one friend in particular that has a physical media library of nearly 25k films and has seen the majority of them. I need to pump up my numbers…lol

Look into Letterboxd if you're interested in keeping track of the movies you've watched

Most of the movies I don't like watching are the Italian horror films that feature real animal death. Doing that is just a lazy man's way of making a shocking film, instead of using artistry to capture an illusion. Gernerally I'm a huge fan of the genre, but not in those instances.

But there are movies like Targets (1968) or Threads (1984) that are massive bummers, lol

Incredible movie with an incredible score. I love how all the white people are complete idiots and the hero and only intelligent, sensible person in the entire movie was the black man. Date: 1968.

Romero claims that he hired Duane Jones because he was the best actor to play the role…I don't know why he'd lie about that, but I'm not sure I believe him.

Probably my favorite genre is the movies about movies genre…Tarantino coined the term "backstage Hollywood" movies which I think is as apt a description as any. This is as good as it gets for the genre…Billy Wilder at the top of his game and a legendary performance by Gloria Swanson.

Not a huge Billy Wilder fan. Too many of the secondary actors act really corny and campy and I especially didn't like Some Like it Hot

However the second half of Stalag 17 I can watch repeatedly and never get bored of it. William Holden goes full lone wolf alpha.

Wilder's best.

Wilder's best.
Another great Wilder film.

Wilder certainly has drawn his fair share of criticism mostly after his partnership with Charles Brackett ended. His work with Brackett generally being considered his best.

You and Woody Allen are the only people I've hear who don't like Some Like it Hot…Perhaps the comedic sensibility of the era came off as dated.

At any rate if you liked Stalag 17 you might like his earlier film Five Graves to Cairo (1943)…A much more serious picture, similar to Stalag 17.
