Didn't apple computers go bankrupt and they're just regular PCs now with custom cases? Apple microchip business went tits up. You're just buying a regular PC with too much chitty proprietary software.

Mac worked immediately with whatever was on there.
Edit: actually tried 6 if you include the 2nd PC lmaoooo. Epic failure beyond measure. The 2010 Mac had no issues.

I said "the type of hardware being used" - I meant the I.B.M. PC standard of hardware. It's the hardware that defines that standard.
There's no need for name calling.

MacOS for creatives.
Windows for gamers.
Developers use mostly mac. Some AI hobbyists will fukk around on Windows with Nvidia cards, actual professionals have clusters in the cloud. And some sadists use WSL to make life harder for themselves.
Agree with what that miscer said about the DVD test being tech illiterate... which is why you chose the mac. they do make nice chit tho.
Windows for gamers.

But I ALSO have a Win11 system (two of them actually) setup for video games. One runs a Minecraft server in the background and was used for crypto at one time, now it's just for WoW or RDP to my office. The other one has 128GB of ram and an RTX 3070 which runs video games pretty well, was also doing Power BI with it because some employer didn't like Tableau. There's a Win10 system here running Mint I have for LaTeX stuff and some python development, but I use Overleaf almost exclusively now and now that Anaconda is working on my M1 perfectly I hardly ever turn it on.

"muh benchmarks"
when you work and make a significant amount of $ it isn't even worth your time to try to "fix" computer issues, you pay someone else to do that for you, or buy something that simply just "works"
That being said, I've always been a PC (windows lol) guy for gaming / work and I would hate to relearn it, but I completely understand their point of view. Have an iphone and had a macbook in university for notes etc.
Will never use an android phone because idgaf about benchmarks or specs, I want something simple that works quick, and (importantly) fits in with everyone around me that also has an iphone for super easy sharing videos/pics, etc.

Gonna agree here. I reluctantly have come to accept that if Apple makes a consumer product, it will generally be much better than any other brand.
Notable exception is PC gaming. Apple cannot compete in that department at all. Linux is even above apple in that department. In before technicality gaibois screeching that OSX is Linux.
Examples of apple superiority is no windows laptop matches the M series MacBooks. The little M2 Mac Mini is all people need since most just stream stuff and do lite internet stuff.
iPads are almost a different technology wirh how far ahead they are in the tablet space.
iPhones are easily the best for a few reasons. Apple security is much tighter, their App Store doesn’t house literally hundreds of malware riddled apps, all major apps are developed for iOS first and ported to the multiple flavors of android after. This leads to much smother running apps on iOS even with Qualcomm trying to play the game of adding cores and upping their clock speed to compensate.
Apples vertical integration is the true winner here. They own, design and produce their major components, and they own their software.
In before smooth brain replies about Linux and Windows domination enterprise backends. I mentioned consumer at the beginning.
Icing on cake: Apple TV 4K is easily the best streaming device.

Generally when people buy a macbook, they're overpaying for a internet-surfing, word/excel laptop by about $700 or so. BUT, these suckers last a long time.
There's some people that replace their laptops every 4 years or so. I was able to get life out of my 2007 macbook for decades before selling it.

No, your old chit laptop from 2010 probably doesn't work. But well built desktop machines will work for a very long time with a little normal maintenence.
As far as apple vs pc, doesn't really matter. Same chit gets done. Unless you want to play games, in which case apple sucks. Apple is overpriced, but I also spent 600 dollars on corsair rgb fans for my custom built desktop pc, so who am I to judge.

OSX is unix btw. FreeBSD if you want to be specific.
Apple does build a pretty concentration camp.
