I’ve been to EE before (Italy)

I’ve been to EE before (Italy) and it bewilders me how well the EUs version of “socialism” keeps the streets pristine clean and gives quality free healthcare.

When you look at americas in places like CA it’s a 180 difference. I think it’s because Europeans actually care about their fellow humans and community and don’t use for profit “social” programs.

I’m By no means a progressive but the EU model works pretty well compared to late stage capitalism that’s making this country into a 3rd world one now.

Americans would rather kill their neighbor over a property line dispute or make a rock bleed money instead of have any real compassion.

Just got back from drinks with the boys. Most work in the finance sector, they range from right wing to ultra right wing. The thread about Austria got me thinking about emigration, so I asked where these boyos are thinking about going?

Poland and Ireland are FAR more conservative than the US. Your friends, or their future chilldren, or their grandchildren, will never ever be able to integrate fully into either country, so best off not trying. GLTA

I know you're confused as an outsider, especially based on pics from Twitter, but your impression is very wrong. The US is the world leader re: immigration, Ireland and Poland do not compare at all.

I love the people who dont want social programs or healthcare for others, but are the same ones who have to work 80 hours a week be miserable, and still one big thing could knock them on there ass making them lose most of what they work for just to look tough or something its weird

Everything I read about Ireland says they've become massive chit libs in the last 20 years. Gay marriage and other LGBTQ nonsense, free healthcare, housing for bums, immigration, free education, lots of social programs, etc. Basically on par with California, or even moreso.

The Catholic Church seems pretty toothless there now. No real conservatives except for a few holdout boomers.

Everyone I know, unless it was for a specific job, has left IL and fled to a conservative state. Mainly for tax and crime reasons.
