If you don't live by these rules, then you are probably a CUCK! The only other exception is if you work for yourself, obviously.
Bull****. Lets see. If I were an employer, would I want my employee to hate working for me? Or, do I have an incentive to make him happy, not quit, and want to do the best job for me?

I echo many of the sentiments posted in this thread.

Smart work >>> Hard work.

We need more of those Sunday wagecuck threads. People need to be reminded every week how stupid they are killing themsleves for a company.

Oh just beat me to it

I'm a little confused on his take, I get what DS is trying to say however I immediately think "why do you think the boomers/your parents owe you anything?"

That boomer is worth millions & wants to take it to his grave? He can do that, it's his money..

My parents/grandparent left me over $3,000,000 in 2011(srs); I didn't take a single cent, they owe me nothing & I felt I should find my own way just as they did

My children will get hand-me-down vehicles & maybe a house(big maybe)

You’re thinking of “responsibility” on a purely individual level, i.e. taking responsibility for one’s own life.

Notice how you used the word “owe” in regards to the relationship older generations have to younger generations? You’re right that the older generations don’t really “owe” the younger generations anything…

But do they have a RESPONSIBILITY to the younger generations? To create a prosperous and healthy world that future generations can thrive in and so forth?

I can't totally blame boomers, at least the working class ones. Their ways were largely a reaction to their own upbringing. Was talking to my coworker about this-boomers did have it hard. They tried to not pass the same chit to their kids. Both my grandparents had difficult lives, cotton pickers and orange pickers (Irish and Mexican). Both sets fought in WWII (who didn't?) and then started their own business, but life wasn't hunky dory. My old man was subject to alcoholism, beat as a kid, and basically cajoled into quitting college to keep the family business going to "support the family." My mom's dad died young by lung cancer-she did want to go to college but was also pushed out of it by counselors suggesting she learn typing. When I consider how I was raised, it makes sense. Both my parents ended up being alcoholics, yet did try. My old man vowed to never hit his kids, and to my knowledge only broke it once on the both of us. He never wanted us to have to give up college, and knew the value of college so does it make sense they pushed it? Yes.

In short, despite turning out ok, boomers wanted to push their kids to college as that was seen as they way to improve their lot. As children boomers were disciplined and they might have went too far the other direction with their own kids causing a sort of softness in subsequent generations. Boomers wanted to provide what they didn't have. Both my parents worked from a young age (as children) but none of that was forced onto us, me and my bro had toys and a backyard instead of pushing a mower or washing dishes. Every generation builds on the previous, I don't think boomers collectively planned to screw over future generations. One thing that I think is a major improvement is the emphasis on health and well-being today versus in previous generations. Heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and depression struck my grandparents in their 50s, today there are active campaigns against all of that and health is a huge focus. Alcoholism and smoking aren't as acceptable, nor is beating your wife/kids. We've come a ways, it's not all bad today.

You don't get to where they are by being satisfied. The people in IB/PE are exceptionally motivated since they were in grade 1 to be the absolute best. Additionally, none of these cats feel like they're rich because they're around tremendous wealth. The most successful friend I know is easily worth around $10M to $12M and is a year younger than me. He still feels like he "has" to work because his bosses/other classmates are just as, or much more wealthy. He also has a retarded lifestyle and thinks he needs $1M a year to break even and give his kids a chance (deadfkinsrs)

Now that I have dressed you down sufficiently, NYC checking in. You're quoting junior folks. The only hedge fund guys I know who 'have no time' are the junior ones working 90+ hours a week. All of the very successful senior people I know (a lot) generally only gripe about one thing: see the OP, which you somehow agree with but instead spent the majority of your post trying to attack yours truly.

As an employer, you know that you have the leverage, because your employee needs food and health insurance.

I worked in a building where 90% of the workforce was H-1Bs. If the employer fired them, they would be deported from the US in 60 days. Some of them had condos and wives and kids in school and chiet... and they were never more than a bad earnings report away from getting that all blown up and getting sent back to Mumbai.

Those guys never took Fridays off early, and they didn't do it because they were such happy workers.

You just proved my point for me, plus you work on Saturday. Not a good lookAnd given the tone of your two posts in this thread: rent free. I don't need plebs like you to validate me, I just replied to your post to put you in your place.

That makes sense, if you are NOT expendable. For the majority of people, what the hell does a corporation care if they are happy or not? Workers need to pay their bills, so you pay them as little as possible to bribe them to work for you. Why do you think they're so outsource and Visa happy?

There was a short period where employers could not get workers because they were chilling at home sucking off the govnt. Then they would go out of their way to retain employees. Now the free money is over with and Zoomers want to rope. But they still have 45 more years to go, lmao.

I'm not really sure where the 'boomers' thing came from - wasn't it that tiktok sloot? I'm surprised that folks don't just generally talk "parenting". You can easily see by looking at wealth transfers from parents to successive generations that it is not simply 'age' that tracks financial responsibility. There are obvious differences, including cultural, which explain why some folks remain poor and others do not. I'm from the school of Amartya Sen on this one.

Who said that "400k is the mark of a champion"? I'm concerned that some folks here have been corrupted by 'ideals of success'. Are you seriously saying that household income needs to be 800k + net to have "made it"? That's well within the top 1% of the USA, so do you have to be in the top 1% of Americans to have 'made it'? It's characteristically American cope that success singularly tracks money.

Retarded is to think that indicating one's ambition through effort is "meaningless". There's a lot of "effort" to put into things well before one is "paid" for it.

Mostly with utilizing coping mechanisms, medications etc.. and quiet quitters are much less effective at actually turning off the factory lights then say, labor strikes and occupy wallstreet type stuff.
Those coping mechanisms are adopted by some, e.g.: if you go to NYU you don't "have to" take "INSERT" to "study as hard as the next person". It's cope to think that 'everyone does it', in the same way as cheaters cope by thinking everyone cheats, or whorecels think that everyone pays for sex, etc.

The folks that rise above see through the haze with razor sharp clarity, albeit most often with good parenting. Hence this thread.

That describes quite a few on this forum already. Plenty of the so-called "checking out" types are hammer & sicklecels at their core, with an entitlement complex where they think they are "owed" something. They aren't owed chit, and it's a brutal blackpill reality check for them. That's why they need to cope so hard on the internet thinking the world is just about the top 1%ers, and everyone else must be miserable by default. Per this thread...
