It’s just a medium boyo, it’s like asking if film or painting is any good. It depends on what you are looking for. Action and violence? It’s there. Romance-yeah a whole genre of anime caters to it, with lots of subgenres. If you want some classic (old school) Disney magic, look no further than Ghibli. His stuff is even better in many ways. Liking anime is really up to you, and whether you find what you like, or just dismiss it without any effort.

I like Cowboy Bebop, Grave of the Fireflies, DBZ, and a host of others. For some insight into Ghibli, here is an intro that describes a famous scene.

Don't even bother with anime until you finish The Shield. Season 1 is more like CSI meets Cops, but it winds up becoming prototype Breaking Bad pretty soon. By the end of Season 2 there's some long-form story arcs, in fact everything you're seeing now eventually comes back to haunt the characters later. Already stuff in Season 1 that will carry over and come back. Seasons 2 and 3 start to move to serialization, and by 4 each season has a primary story arc, just like modern TV.

Each season gets better srs. Eren stops being whiny crying lil bish and becomes a cold calculating fukken killer, really pretty good character development. But the world building is just nuts.

I always tell ppl the world building / mystery box is like everything you would have hoped Lost would have been when you saw the first season of Lost.

yeah, kill la kill is not a good introductory anime. The plot is stupid, its got fanservice everywhere and a lot of Japanese centric jokes that most people won't understand, also its painfully cartoonish, like, more cartoony than american cartoons.

Its really only worth watching for the fights

As for anime length, There are an endless list of 13 episode anime to choose from. I like them too because even if the plot is dumb you didn't invest too much of your life to get into something you don't even like *COUGHonepieceCOUGH*
