So is anime any good? srs

Was talking to my barber, and he said he watches some anime. He suggested attack on titan. I'm watching the shield rn (not anime), it's fun but not much of a storyline in season 1 anyway.

anyone seen attack on titan? is anime good in general? never seen any anime ever

I've seen many over the years that were quite excellent. If you think they're just childish cartoons, you really owe it to yourself to explore a few. Lots are geared towards adults and are mature stories that just happen to be animated. Many are pretty brutal. Monster, for example, was a great experience. Even Death Note was great. Attack on Titan was really good although I lost interest at some point.

edit: trying to recall others I've seen. Tokyo Ghoul, Seven Deadly Sins, Hunter X Hunter, a few others I can't remember the name of. Great stuff.

Lightsarefallin gave some good suggestions. Avatar the last air bender isn't really anime, but it is probably my favorite animated series.

Stein;s Gate and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood are a couple other favorites.

I regularly read about how this is a really good one, I've just never seen it.

Yes it can be good, but it can also be trash and the rabid fanbase doesn't make things better.

This series isn't complete yet but Ninja Kamui has been pretty good if you're looking for mindless violence. The plot is pretty simple (revenge story) but the action is top notch:

The ONLY anime I could ever stand watching, was Initial D back in 2001 era.

Everything else is Waifu betaincel WEEB crap

I highly reccomend you watching it in Japanese audio, anglish subtitles. This is the full playlist of the good version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSDd...6IO6ZTtbnMOqz1

Anime covers a lot of bases, so if you like certain genres, chances are there's something in it for you. It's not just awkward fan service.

Full metal alchemist brotherhood
Attack on Titan
Future diary
Seven deadly sins
Overlord
Demon slayer
Prison school has a lot of fan service, but it's one of the funniest animes I've ever seen.
Asobi asobase is kind of a weird foundation, it's about 3 female middlescoolers, but the voice acting and drawings are hysterical.
Misc Firearms Crew
Actually lives in Texas crew
Definitely putting some anchor babies in illegal latinas crew

Thats the mainstream garbage thats pushed into popularity by the insufferable anime fanatics. If thats all you think anime is, then you're really missing out:

Hajime no Ippo
Monster (psychological thriller about a surgeon that struggles with the ethics of saving the life of a serial killer)
Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust
Ghost in the Shell (the movie and series)
Demon City Shinjuku
Anything by Studio Ghibli
Patema Inverted (movie loosely based on Romeo and Juliet with a sci-fi twist.)
Your Name (movie)
The Promised Neverland (just season 1)
Erased (dude that has the ability to go back in time to solve a murder, but when he goes back in time he ages back to a kid)

Demon Slayer would be perfect if not for the annoying forced comedic antics of a couple of the characters. If it was cut from the series it would be top tier, but for now, i'm just watching for the sakuga fights.

One thing I've noticed is that all of the characters sound the same to me during anime fights. It's probably because I'm not Japanese but it's pretty funny that every character across every anime yells the same during fights lol.

Hunter X Hunter was pretty funny, but it fit.

my buddy has tried to get me into anime. I've been forced to sit through "the best" anime.

I watch many 3 hours long podcasts about anime from anime dweebs who live in japan (non-japanese).

But yes, I know nothing.

Probably a bit of correlation, but some of us are at least a little respectable, lol.

Love anime. been watching for almost 30 years.Dont really get into the popular mainstream anime. My favorite is Cowboy Bebob hands down. Just a great fun entertaining show and the movie was excellent. Not only my favorite anime movie but one of my favorite movies period. Close second is Berserk but its not for everyone. Some crazy dark chit in that one. Elfen Lied is pretty good and fuked up. Samurai Champloo is good. Dont think i can add anything. Everyone has very varied taste in anime its crazy sometimes

Somebody's gotta mention Cowboy Bebop. It's a space western with a sick soundtrack, and it's a pretty non-anime anime (along with a lot of the other stuff here e.g. Monster).

There's a bunch of really good stuff, but a lot of it does delve into the stereotyped tropes, and most of the good shows even have some cringy weeb or overdramatic stuff.

Years ago I was fukking this insanely hot cosplay chick who would cosplay characters from that show Kill La Kill.

I'm not super into anime but when she cosplayed she was mind destroying-ly hot.

Anyways the best anime I've seen is the old chit - Akira, Ninja Scroll, Fist of the North Star, and Ghost in the Shell.

Anime covers every genre, so there's something for everyone. You got the ultra weeb body pillow fan service stuff, psychological thrillers, mindless action, romance, everything.

What usually turns people off from anime is their first show being one aimed at kids, or one with too many anime tropes that someone unfamiliar with the medium wouldn't understand.

If you're looking for something more serious and engaging, i HIGHLY recommend Death Note. It's not only one of the greatest mystery thrillers in anime/manga, it's probably the best one to introduce someone into anime.

Seriously, watch Death Note. If you're into Sci fi, mostly episodic space western with a great jazz soundtrack, I think you'll also enjoy Cowboy Bebop. From there, you'll probably branch out. Who knows, maybe you'll also like the embarrassing weeb chit as well. We won't tell anyone.
