Yes. Two examples.

In the case of Mar-A-Lago, the rights for it to be a residential property were signed away, and it has to remain a social club in perpetuity. This was done by Trump, so as to lower his assessable value.

In the case of his NY penthouse, he assessed it on the basis that it was 30,000 sq ft. It's 11,000.

The first, you can make some argument regarding differing values (not the absurd 100x that Trump claims though). The second one, it's pretty difficult to argue with a tape measure....

Do you understand that rich guys like Trump aren't treated like the rest of us? His valuations were used and got him more favorable rates than he should have and then he undervalued for tax purposes.

Lock him up.

What's your stance on the appraisers and banks allowing it?

Doesn't matter. The law is the law. Rich guys shouldn't get treatment that you and I don't get just because they're rich.

Do you agree with this?

Not at all. But in situations like this I'm also on the fence as to who to throw the blame at when people take advantage of clear favoritism or loopholes. The ones clearly taking advantage or the ones allowing the loopholes.

You really struggle with reading comprehension.

Aware me where JS inflated his property value to secure more favorable loan terms. THAT would be the same thing big boi.

Also aware me where JS said his place was 5x bigger than it actually was and lied about it being rent controlled to gain favorable loan terms.

Yep. But let's start with this litmus test so we don't bother the honest ones.

If you are so crooked you can't run a charity in NY AND you stole from your slaves so bigly that you had to pay them $25M, then you are subject to this strict review.

Seems reasonable to me.

What you think JS inflated the size of his property to receive more favorable loan terms? Please aware me what loan JS applied for lying about his property.

There would have to be more people involved on a property deal that absurd.
There is no "certainty" about the transaction being sketchy and it's extremely easy to see the transaction history.

It's a 6,000 square foot penthouse, purchased in 2005 for $4.5M, renovated, and sold in 2014 for $17.5M. Not short term, not 800%, and easy to compare to other similar transaction in the area.

This whole "gotcha" attempt is absolutely based on pure fake news bullchit.

well,
it seems to me someone in the assessor's office was doing Stewart a solid.
but it really depends on what the other units in the building were valued at.

also, why someone would pay that much?
a whole lot of stuff doesn't make sense about this.

It shows how stupid Clive and other Trumpers are. They don't even try to gain a basic understanding of the situation. They see a "gotcha" headline and latch onto it because they think it vindicates their favorite politician. I used to think some of the Trumpers here were actually smart, but they're mostly all complete morons. Clive is bottom of the barrel IQ. An absolute mouthbreather.

That's how it is with Trump sycophants. They eagerly slurp up all the alt right, fake news they can without a second of critical thought.

That's how he controls them so bigly and so easily.

Mayby JS didn't do the same thing, but isn't it funny how well connected people (celebrities and politicians) seem to all too often run into these sweetheart too good to be true 1 in 1,000,000 deals? Just luck I guess.

In this case, someone sold him some property for way under market value. For some reason, JS was the only one given that deal but anyone would jump on it and pay more. Then he finds a buyer that is willing to pay him over 8X as much. Same thing with their stock choices. They invest just suddenly put a lot of money in some stock and then the stock doubles in price. Or they pull their money out right before it crashes. It's almost like insider trading, but that would be a conspiracy theory.

Probably because he did nothing wrong. 100% unlike Trump.

Funny how Trumpers like Stizzel can't figure this out.
