Chris was the quarterback on my high school football team. Steve was the catcher on our baseball team. They were both hard workers in sports when I knew them. I'm 100% certain they both could have been very successful in life if they applied their work ethic in a positive way but they both had prescription drug addictions and surrounded themselves with bad people. You can't escape the truism that “Bad company corrupts good character" (1 Cor 15:33).

You can turn your life around at any stage if you surround yourself with people on that same trajectory, or you could post on a message board bragging about receiving food stamps. Life choices.
