Also gonna start corpo, most games start off as a total beginner in.. everything. It sounds like fun actually starting something from within

I could be really wrong about this but I think the life story might be tied to the person implanted in your head via the chip. Keanu plays Johnny Silverhand as the Samurai Rockerboy, but there were two other options shown way back when in the character creator: Morgan Blackhand for the Solo of Fortune backstory and Saburo Arasaka as the Corporate God.

Morgan Blackhand would be tied to the Nomad life path and Saburo obviously to Corpo. So I have a feeling that if you want to play the game with Keanu, you need to choose the Streetkid life path. And we have no idea who might be playing Morgan Blackhand or Saburo Arasaka – I think this may be another massive surprise CDPR has in their back pocket, it could be two more big celebrities.

But maybe you can pick Johnny / Morgan / Saburo regardless of your life path, or maybe Keanu is present either way. But I think this would be an absolutely awesome way to increase playability, because you'd have three distinct life paths with possibly three different huge characters implanted in your head. And that would be big motivation to play the game 3x over.

Mostly speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case. And if it is the case, depending on who is playing the other two childhood heros, it would be tough to not pick Streetkid right off the bat

They did away with the "childhood hero' thing a while ago. Johnny Silverhand will be your "voice in the head" throughout the game after the prologue regardless of your life path.

It sounds like the childhood hero was moreso integrated into the lifepaths than it was done away with. Have they stated that Johnny will be the voice in your head regardless?

Maybe they'll just switch up the dialogue and such, but it made a lot of sense to have the other figures more involved for the other life paths. And from what I understood, they're on the same level of importance as Johnny Silverhand in the lore.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but I think CDPR has a couple aces up their sleeve for this

As it is right now, each lifepath has a unique opening sequence and endows you with dialogue options that lets you finish quests differently than in other lifepaths. Johnny Silverhand is inside the "immortality chip" that you acquire in the prologue, as seen in the trailers and demo player feedback - the main quest will revolve around it. You might be able to meet Morgan and Saburo in the game, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Imagine rick rolling your fans then announcing a delay a couple of weeks later… I think that would really kill the hype!

But I agree with you, this does show confidence that they'll hit the November 19th date.

Hope they get the optimization down, really hoping to max this out.

Performance will be a non issue with DLSS 2.0. Unless you're an AMD GPU peasant or don't have an RTX card, in which case, no DLSS 2.0 for you.

I hope DLSS 2.0 lets my RTX 2060ti hold up lol. Kinda regret not paying extra for the 2080.

2060 will do 1080/ultra settings/ray tracing on at 60+ fps with DLSS 2.0 for sure.

People are seriously sleeping on DLSS 2.0. Nvidia is changing the game with it. You get 90% of the graphics quality of what the native resolution would look like while getting as much as 60-80% more performance depending on game. That ain't no ****in joke brah.

LOL peasant

You are going to need a 3070 minimum for decent ray tracing PC graphics with 4k gains and paired with a Samsung Evo plus with 32gb of 3600mhz ram clocked at least CL16 to get 60fps, because if not you might as well get it on the XBOX X and save yourself a chit load of money.

How DLSS 2.0 works in short for those who don't want to look elsewhere.

Say you game at 1440 resolution and that's your monitors native resolution:
DLSS 2.0 allows your GPU to essentially run the game at a much lower resolution (say 720p or 1080p), then with AI, up scales it to the resolution you're playing at - 1440. So you get quality that side by side looks almost exactly the same quality as the native resolution, but the performance level of a much lower resolution.
Things to note:
Any time you up scale, some quality is lost, however, Nvidia has got it to the point that it's extremely minimal and to my knowledge, absolutely no one's AI is better than theirs for up scaling.
You want to set it to run at as high a resolution as you can. The higher it is, the less the graphics quality loss will be. (At least that's my understanding.)
So if gaming at 1440, you'd get better quality running at 1080P than 720P.

In terms of what's under the hood, DLSS 2.0 trains the GPU to render a low-resolution image as close to a high-resolution equivalent one as possible, as well as tracking how objects are moving from frame to frame. Which allows the GPU to basically take shortcuts by only expending memory to render what's necessary to produce a high-quality image every frame and not needing to actually be in high-resolution to achieve high-resolution quality. Pretty fascinating stuff. Makes me wish I took the extracurricular machine learning workshops more seriously…

Linus Tech Tips did a review of Nvidias similar tech that they use in their streaming box which can up scale 1080 to 4k.
The upscaled 4k next to native 4k was virtually identical. If it wasn't side by side with native, you would have absolutely zero idea it was upscaled. Its crisp, sharp, and detailed like you expect 4k to be, without over sharpening like other people's up scaling does and makes it look like ****.

I hope we also get to see things in this game like:

1 Enhanced movement, higher jumps etc. Upgradeable via RPG elements
2 Fleshed out melee combat (more than just blocking, attacking and dodging)
3 Some sort of cyberworld where we can also move around in where obviously different rules of physics apply
4 Some kind of minigames? Races, fighting clubs or some collectable/card game like Gwent

Even without all that, so much to look forward to
