Smurf refers to the white gold variant, right? Mine is just a 16613 two tone (which actually is one of my favorite watches of all time srs, absolutely love the sunburst blue dial/bezel, it’s the perfect shade IMO)

The reverso is a really cool/historic design. But if you're not a watch nerd, it's not anything that special. JLC makes much better modern designs.

He could also look at preowned Hublots.

what's your use case? are you looking for something sportier or dressier? if you're going for a one-watch collection you can't go wrong with an aqua terra IMO

Another vote for the AT if you want a <5k watch that looks 10/10. Find the color/bracelet combo you like and run with it.

And my problem with Rolex ADs is i have zero that arent 45 mins plus away with traffic. So it's not like i can "stop in" like i used to be able to up in upstate NY. Literally one a mile from my old house.

my aqua terra was a complete steal IMO. bought it for around $2500 last year from a dealer in japan and had it shipped here. mine is a less common version of the aqua terra since it has diamond markers and originally came on a white ostrich leather strap (which looked ugly). put a cheap red barton rubber strap on it and it looks 10x better.

for ~$2500 i got a sexy looking watch (if i do say so myself), co-axial chronometer certified 8500 movement, 150m water resistance with a screw-down crown, and display caseback. also it came with the original inner and outer box, plus the warranty card which is still valid until 2025 since the watch was originally purchased by the previous owner in 2020.

Under 5k is hard to beat a Tudor or Omega, I would give the edge to Tudor overall, but Omega’s coax movement is legit.

I honestly wear whatever is new for a week or so. But I'm pretty much wearing the SD43 as my daily with the FF as my weekend watch otherwise. DJ is probably just my dress watch now.

I should probably sell some stuff. There's fukall chance that stuff like my Sumo, Archimede, Tissot, etc get worn at this point.

I had wanted a Sub because I think the deeper black and the AR coating are a bit more refined. Obviously wasn't going to turn down the SD43 though.

I had been wearing a couple titanium divers daily when I picked the SD43 up. So obviously the thing felt heavy AF the first day and I was sort of regretting it.

After wearing it for a week, I came around big time. It's actually really comfortable for me once I was used to the weight. And the dial color and non-AR crystal really look great when you're not doing an active comparison next to the Sub. I think the case size is perfect. It's just it's own watch.

Bezel action is worlds better than anything else I've ever owned. Crazy how crisp it is.

Been a long long while since i posted in this thread. Seems not many posts in this thread all together since nobody made a new 1 since 2020.

I got a new (used) watch. I traded my 116613LB and my 116520 for a 116515LN Chocolate. Ive wanted this piece for a long time now and recently I felt the need to scratch this itch when I saw a posting near my town. But the owner wanted too much for it. Taiwan is not a large country and that means there arent alot of trades or sales available for any given model, especially 116515LNs. So when I saw that new posting I felt I HAD to scratch this itch. The time felt right.

After occassionally looking around forums for 3 weeks I came across a guy who lived a bit farther. Needless to say he agreed to take my 2 pieces for his 1 116515LN since he "graduated Rolex" and was now moving onto Lange. Combined my total value probably exceeds his by about 3-4k but when you are the 1 initiating the trade, you gotta take a loss.

Also selling watches is a pain in the pass. You get the biggest idiots asking about your watch and all of them lowball.

Anyways here it is. Ill probably keep this 1 for a while.
