BLNRs are going for 12k now??? this honestly excites me lol, maybe i'll actually be able to afford one.

I'd be curious what's wrong with it. They are definitely dropping, but not that much. Hell i would not care if i could get one in the 14k Range given taxes and AD cawk sucking.

Went to a second Authorized Rolex dealer last week and put my name on the list for a SS gmt2 on jubilee. Don’t care if it’s a Batman or a Pepsi I’m just not paying over msrp for ANYTHING.

He said I might get lucky and get the call in about a year as the market is softening a little and Rolex is opening another factory.

I ain’t holding my breath and I’m a patient man.

What would you guys think of the OP36 Teal for someone with a 7.75" wrist?

My AD has delivered a ton and I feel like it might be a cool piece to hold long-term?

Catbrah, I’m calling you out on this one, thats bull. If you get yourself a Nautilus, you know you’re going to be looking at a Royal Oak next. It’s that one thing you didn’t get. And fuark they are beautiful. Collection is complete after that. Make it a chronograph for good measure.

Honest bro, AP design language just doesn't do it for me. I respect them a ton. But just not my thing I guess?

Surely the aquanaut on display was an exhibition model… right?

De Boulle is legit. I almost bought my FF there, but I decided to order from out of state to save the tax

No doubt, they are beautiful watches. However, I feel that they're way too common. Not common in the sense that I see so many in the real world, but common in the sense that everyone who comes into money immediately goes for those.

Not only that, but they aren't versatile watches. They're very dressy and I don't see myself wearing them often.

I bought the Rolexes as a store of wealth but then I realized, it's very hard to sell them at above market value, and not only that, I don't think I ever would sell them. I need to start buying based on what I'd actually wear frequently.

So I started thinking, I want watches that are more unique, and less common, and can be worn in more casual settings.

Watches like the Omega seamaster aqua terra, the JLC reverso, VC overseas, etc.

Thoughts? I guess in the end it's all preference, but I just no longer see the appeal of the Rolexes.
I totally get this. Unfortunately, the marketing success of Rolex brought this about. People who are more interested in money/status than they are in watches get lumped in with people who genuinely like Rolex watches. Because of this, some look at a perfectly beautiful datejust, and all they think is “entry level”. Many wouldn’t even notice an Explorer I long enough to realize it’s a Rolex. It makes you feel weird, for sure.

I had this experience, and sold my datejust over it. I bought less recognizable watches since. Stuff that only a person who knows watches would notice. Which is essentially nobody IRL lol. Worked out well for me though. But I do miss the datejust at times, and will probably end up getting that explorer someday.

Its hard to use watches as a store of wealth if you bought them new. If you bought them used it becomes more feasible. Additionally, using Rolex as a store of wealth (atleast until the past 2 years) really only applied to 2 sports models.

Additionally Datejust can be harder to sell because theres so many combinations and everybody is looking for a different combination of dial and bezel.

The Rolex being a store of wealth application comes from a combination of inflation + rolex raising prices + waiting several years. If you bought your DateJust new you wont see your money back selling it used unless the used market appreciates well past your paid sticker price.

Raffle them on reddit. As long as you have comps at the price point you want, you will be all good. A lot easier than finding a buyer.

Raffle idea is pretty good srs…also I'd entertain some trade-in offers on other pieces.

I would disagree a bit on your versatility comment though…at least on the blue dial DJ. I think it can easily be worn casually.

Keep the blue and look to move the two tone…that would be my play

This depends on the DJ. I have the silver dial fluted bezel and they are currently selling for around $2500 (25%) above retail. If you go back and look at watch charts, most discontinued Rolex pieces are selling for more than their retail price as well.

Not saying it's all gonna be like buying a Daytona, but it's not like anyone is likely to lose money buying at retail.

Exactly it depends on the datejust. Cause datejust has so many different combinations and everybody could potentially want something different, even if they are looking for a datejust.
So its harder to sell used. numberic vs numerals, color dial, fluted vs polished bezel, oyster vs jubilee, two tone or stainless. 36/40/41mm. So its harder to find a person looking for the exact Datejust you are offering

Whereas a sub, only has date or no date and if you want it blue there are no variations beyond two-tone or full gold. If they want green then it only comes date and full stainless. And they all come in 40/41

That's actually the 126600 (sea dweller). I wasn't special enough to get offered a sub. lol.

The Rolex definitely more of a tool watch. I wear it as my daily right now. It's an amazing piece. Bezel is the best I've ever used, and it keeps an average of +0.2 seconds per day since I bought it.

The Fifty Fathoms feels more like a high horology boutique piece. The case and dial finish are incredible. But it's only keeping around +5 seconds, which surprised me. I also am between holes on the strap size, which is just a me problem. Eventually I'll buy the bracelet when I want to burn $2800.

Got a call from the AD today about a watch I was on a list for my sister. She wanted the jubilee date just, but the one they got was an oyster bracelet with the blue dial. Had to tell them she didn't want it, and that she wanted a different dial now. ffs. I was on the list for some pieces I wanted as well, hopefully turning them down after getting a call on a watch doesn't just remove me from the lists for all of them. lol

No wonder, I think the old sea dweller did not have a cyclops over the date.

Yeah whenever I’m feeling feminine I could just throw on the 31mm date just.

When I saw the Rolex number on my phone my ******* clinched up hoping it was the call for the Batman or Pepsi.

Lol okay maybe not the 31.

I'm gonna panick when I get the next call. My bank acct isn't ready for the next round but no way I can turn them down. Waiting for my blue Skydweller, but I mentioned last visit that I'd love to own the white gold blue Daytona one day.

how do you boyos feel about bell and ross. I want to a buy a nicer watch. I got a nice bonus this year (200k srs), but I just cant get myself to spend 10k on a rolex (especially after getting raped on taxes etc).

I hate to spend more than 3k even….

I sort of like these but not sure how actual watch people feel about them
