If we can get some with kerly smith and even Patton we could have a decent passing game. Also throw in McDonald…
We just need to make throws.

We are going to have a hell of time against the panthers next week. If the defense can contain Newton and play just as hard like tonight and then add in a better offense than tonight we may have a chance.
Sadly I predict gabbert will blow it.

I probably won't be able to fall asleep now…brb 1:30am out here.
Hopefully the defense is legit. Can't expect a shutout vs Carolina but hopefully this wasn't like last year where we totally shut down Vikings and then got torched by Steelers the week after.
I don't see us winning on Sunday but as long as we're in a close game with no injuries I'm happy.

Overreaction is happiness right now but hey we're 1-0 with a shutout and divisional win. I'll fuking take it. We were 1-0 last year though too and we all know how that went. Big test next week but I expect us to show up and play well and make Carolina earn it.
Glad no major injuries. Will get back to y'all tomorrow with more in depth analysis lol.

Worst QB play in a 28-0 victory in NFL history.
There is absolutely no way in hell kaep is worse then Blaine. WOATBERT missed at least 5 wide open guys and should've been picked like 7 times.
This "victory" was ****ing awful. Kaep needs to start. Next week will be ugly.

This screams of last season when a somewhat similar situation happened with Pittsburgh. They were coming off a tough loss vs the Pats to open the season and we were coming off the big win on MNF vs Minnesota. Next thing you know it's 29 to 3 heading into the 4th quarter.
Now I do feel better about our chances to keep this one closer since Carolina runs the ball much more and there's no Antonio Brown but their defense is way better than what the Steelers have and after a touch loss they'll definitely be out to prove a point.
Speaking of the similarities…wtf NFL? back to back seasons of opening up on late MNF then flying to the east coast on short week to play a team coming off a Thursday night game. Only thing worse than that is making a team go across the country to play Thursday night vs a team coming off a bye week.

Here is what I am confused with…
In the forth quarter we would see everyone on offense stand up and go look at our sideline. Was that intentional to confuse the defense or were they just looking for the play? At some point we even had a few huddles towards the end. I think the huddles were to switch things up so the defense would not see formations ect… IDK? I thought it was weird.

According to PFF here are our top grades form the night:
Top offensive grades:
LT Joe Staley, 83.7
TE Garrett Celek, 74.6
WR Jeremy Kerley, 74.5
TE Vance McDonald, 70.3
RB Shaun Draughn, 65.1
Top defensive grades:
CB Tramaine Brock, 91.7
CB Jimmie Ward, 87.1
S Eric Reid, 86.6
LB NaVorro Bowman, 85.9
DI Quinton Dial, 82.6
That shows a lot of promise but then again it was the Rams. The panthers are a completely different team and will be tough. I do not expect a win but it will be nice to see the defense play hard again. Hopefully the offense can get it together and continue to put up points.

Here is my report card from last night
QB: C+, Gabbert’s third quarter was brutal. Take away the 3rd quarter and he played ok though. Didn’t take any unnecessary sacks so that’s a plus. He read the field from what I saw but like Steve Young said he seemed hesitant to throw into traffic at times. I criticized Alex Smith for doing the same thing and praised Kap for taking shots so I must be fair. I guess as long as you connect on those shots like Kap did early on in his career its cool but I’m sure it would be a different story if they didn’t connect and they turned into turnovers.
RB: A-, Hyde is a monster. Sure he didn’t break 100 but not a lot of teams will with that Rams front 7. Draughn played well too despite the fumble.
WR: B, Kerley is the real deal in the slot. Patton played ok and had a key block as well. Smith was kinda lost. It’s obvious we don’t have a #1 receiver but we all knew that coming into the season.
TE: B-, other than Vance’s touchdown they really weren’t too noticeable other than there blocking which looked good.
OL: A+, this was refreshing. They all played great from what I saw especially considering against one of the best dlines in football.
Overall all offensive grade B-
DE: A+, Dial really had himself a good game. Armstead got a sack and Bucknew flashed. Heck even saw Blair make some disruptions.
DT: A, hard to tell what a DT impact is in a 3-4 but Purcell did seem to make some plays. Can’t really find any fault with him
OLB: B+, Brooks still is one of our most consistent players. I looked for Tank last night and every time I saw him he was in coverage which isn’t his strong suit but he looked ok.
ILB: A++, Bowman is back. Ray Ray had a nice pick and a good hit a few times. Ray Ray might be our best guy next to Bowman. Not sure if Wilhiote even played ILB last night
CB: A, they really played great last night. Rams are like us in the WR category so take it for what its worth. Both Ward and Brock played excellent. Robinson got some valuable playing time as well. This is Baalke’s group so I expect good things from them as a whole.
S: A, They didn’t give up hardly any big plays. Reid looked good. Tartt looked good on ST
Overall defensive grade A++ for the shutout!!!
Some interesting stats:
49ers converted all 4 red zone attempts into touchdowns. WOW
Offense registered 28 first downs last night. Doesn’t seem like it but WOW
Only 2 penalties last night
Held the Rams to only 185 total yards!!!
Ahmad Brooks tied Dana Stubblefield for 3rd place in franchise history for sacks

I hope the defense can show up and at least make it not a blow out. IF we can run the ball on them that will be good but if Gabbert plays like he did last night he will be in trouble.

Buckner and Robinson both were in the top 10 rookies this week.
7. DeForest Buckner, DE, 49ers
No rookie earned a higher pass-rushing grade than Buckner in Week 1. He may have been blanked in the box score, but his four hurries contributed greatly to the 49ers’ win. Unfortunately, he missed a tackle in the run game and got taken out of a couple other plays, and that’s why he slips to seventh on this list.
10. Rashard Robinson, CB, 49ers
The only team with two players represented on this list, the 49ers have to be pleased with how they started the 2016 season. To pitch a shutout with multiple rookies contributing is quite the feat. In 23 coverage snaps, Robinson allowed a grand total of 0 yards into his coverage.
