Well my assumption is that Dell shareholders receive shares of the new business to balance out the "drop" in the shares of DELL.

the same way AMZN holders would be given shares of AWS if it ever spins off of AMAZON.

No one is losing money, it's a division.

A tech company "spinning off" virtualization during a work from home boom and hardware scarcity isn't a good sign in any measure. Its meant to keep vmware from going down with the rest.

But if they sold some of the debt with vmware to keep dell up then it would make sense…I haven't seen the numbers.

could be a legal thing, they're probably just avoiding some monopoly laws by spinning off.

tesla signing a contract for 100k cars means they can actually produce them, which would mean they're the only company that can

that's not just "big news"….that would be a complete paradigm shift. I dumped half my portfolio on tesla on the news. Of course elon comes back this morning and corrects the statement. They're selling at msrp to hertz without a contract. This, of course, implies they cannot deliver the numbers and completely undermines any thesis from yesterday.

And as you previously stated, I am not even sure I'm going to pull out. There is just too much tsla momentum.

This market has me riding bumper stops like a bowling toddler.

What has happened lately that makes sense in this market? Tesla didn't even need the hertz catalyst for it's move.

not really, because it isn't a "dip"…. To call a spin-off a dip would be the same as calling a stock split a dip. if a stock does a 2-for-1 split, it doesn't drop 50%, it just turns into two shares. That's basically what a spinoff is from a shareholders perspective.

Combined with DAT CHART. fuark. We get below $80, tour's over for PTONcels.

My uncle who is a developer in gilbert was telling me the other day about TSMC, there are quite a few job openings in my field there. I'm almost about to be forced to relocate to Phoenix..

Fuk I love Arizona.
Oh yeah, developers are busting nuts to this plant being built. Real estate in that area will continue skyrocketing (already is, but the TSMC area is in north phoenix, and it's basically empty desert right now).

I hope PTON investors do well. I'm not a fan

My tour would possibly be over if I ever found myself holding a PTON bag.

If I were to buy in for a day trade I would risk getting in at $88, with a tight stop loss. It could get a bounce

It's not even heavily shorted. That we know of. Tesla looks too risky to short, so many other opportunities for short hedge funds.

this market doesn't care about reason or logic

the stock split was exactly the angle I was approaching it from

people buying xlynx because its shares will be converted by a factor greater than 1 into amd during the merger makes sense since amd stock was higher by proportion a few weeks back

tesla stock splitting then rising up to the same price as before makes no sense

there's a propensity in this market for the stock value to be largely uncoupled from the number of shares present. but that's likely based off how many of a stock's holders are retail traders.

Another 2:1 split for Tesla would send it soaring further in the current market. There's just too much fuking cash right now.

I've heard rumors, but not sure if Musk is willing to do a split right now. Have you heard anything about the possibility in the near future?

-Names their company after a character that steals from the rich and gives to the poor
-Builds their platform around gamification of stock trading and gainzzzzz
-Purports free trading while making money through payment for order flow
-Sells data to the rich

Never would have guessed that Robinhood has been sketch from Day 1
