Mostly weight. Side plates on the IBA weighed an additional 7.75 lb...the whole armor system weighed over 33 lbs. That's before factoring in ammunition, nods, water, food, and other essential equipment.
Due to the increased dangers of improvised explosive devices, newer versions of the vital plates and components have been developed. The Enhanced Small Arms Protective Inserts (ESAPIs) and Enhanced Side Ballistic Inserts (ESBIs) have become available, along with the Deltoid and Axillary Protector System (DAPS). These new systems are becoming the standard for forward deployed troops. The E-SAPI plates offer increased protection from 7.62mm armor-piercing ammunition. The ESBIs is an attachable MOLLE ballistic panel with a pouch for a 8x6 side-SAPI, for protection of the side of the torso/under the arm. DAPS consists of two ambidextrous modular components, the Deltoid (upper arm) Protector and the Axillary (under arm) Protector, and provide for additional protection from fragmentary and projectiles to the upper arm and underarm areas. With the IBA, E-SAPI plates (10.9 pounds), ESBIs (7.75 pounds), DAPS (5.03 pounds) and with the neck, throat and groin protectors installed the armor is significantly heavier at 33.1 pounds (15 kg).
There's "protection" as in, I can bounce bullets, and then there's not getting shot in the first place because you were wearing 100+ lbs of kit when you only needed 50 lbs of equipment to perform your mission.

When it comes to the steel armor I see larpers buying up, side plates are probably detrimental in the best of circumstances. Deflecting a bunch of spall into the nerves and arteries in your arm pit is potentially worse than taking the round with no protection.

What's the allure of a Spas-12? Is there a legitimate reason to purchase one if I have a 590A1 and an AK12? I understand that the soft parts should be replaced if I do purchase one and I see this as a plus because I would gain a better understanding of how it operates when I do this. If I decide to get a Spas it would delay my purchase of a lever gun/rifle and a CZ 75 Tactical Sport. However the Spas is alluring because of its limited availability.

Parts for lightweight AR pistol are starting to arrive. Trying to get it down to 4 lbs, and stay under $1500.

Don't agree to wait 8 weeks if you are going to start whining after like 4 weeks (it has as of today still been less than 8 weeks since the 35% sale ended)

If you go to lobby day please be aware that this is a trap. They are going to paint everyone there are white nationalists and the antifa *******s literally have nothing to lose and are going to try to get someone to shoot them. Right wing activism doesn't usually work. Northam wants an incident and the police there are going to do everything in their power to give it to him. Stay safe guys and if you go use EXTREME caution. Hopefully this thing works out and Virginia lives up to their motto without any actual violence

Can't see those links at work so I don't know if this is a joke or not. I'm not a fudd or a bootlicker. I just don't want this thing to turn into Charlottesville 2.0 and give the media an excuse to start pushing gun control again. Maybe the organizers for this thing are smarter than the ones for Charlottesville but that is exactly what the cops and Northam are gonna try to turn it into. Make no mistake they want violence.

I not asking anyone to beg the enemy for mercy or suck their dink just be careful if you go cause it is a trap.

Well so far, CZ's customer service is worse than Sig's.

Emailed them a week ago for a warranty question. No reply. Just tried calling and got their "we're currently closed" message, saying to call back between 9-5pm CST. It's 12:08 there.

Also, that is a scene from King of the Hill where they ask the new neighbor (Khan) if he is Chinese or Japanese. He is however from Laos, but, you know, blue collar Texas guys a couple decades back didn't know what or where the hell Laos was. Bought a Tactical Sport I found in new old stock. The trigged has a little hitch about 1/8" before the break. No big deal right? Except that hitch is actually partially disengaging the hammer. I can cock it back and hear it click into place again if I take up the slack past that point.

My buddy's doesn't have the same issue. I want them to make sure it's not an actual safety issue since the hammer moving during take up seems really strange.

Lmao. If you knew how many times I've heard "that's impossible, let me see that" then had someone try it themselves and be shocked I wasn't lying.

It even goes for parts. Bought a Johnny Glock trigger shoe. I was the first out of his new manufacturers shipment and they got the specs wrong. Was too wide to fit with the slide release. You have to punch through the factory trigger to remove it on a gen 5, so now I've got no trigger for my 34 while he sends me a replacement.

*edit*

Also, Dan Wesson sent me a bushing wrench with my bull barrel instead of the bull barrel tool.

Cliffs: guns hate him
