I've been doing the 401k maxing at work for years and so we just dumped even more into investments after the house was done.

I can't tell you how easy it is to sleep at night knowing that the house is free and clear. If something were to happen with either of our jobs, it would be really easy to make ends meet and not touch the investments. Was more a peace of mind and lifestyle decision for us.
I imagine it's a great feeling. I know from paying off my other debts it's a huge psychological relief. But I'd rather stack cash (invest) and have that money to live off and pay mortgage if I lost my job, especially with interest rates so low. I looked back to the late 80's when my parents moved, and ho lee fck my mortgage would be nearly doubled. I can see why it was advised to pay off fast.
Paying it off is a conservative investment. I would pay it off instead of buying bonds or something similar, but I'm not at the point of playing conservative.
Really, I want to sell in a few years and go back to renting. No kids crew and I regret buying a house (especially one so big/expensive). Should've gone 800 sq. ft. with a garage, if anything, but live and learn.

Construction hasn't even started yet, so I'd say sometimes in 2021 at the absolute earliest.

Do a LMT enhanced carrier too. Delays unlocking and reduces pressure and more gas down the barrel.

I haven’t looked. They’ve got to be around, even new/used on arfcom or gunbroker or something.

Not like Vltor A5s are easy to find either now that you mention it. I’ve been needing an A5H2 for a while.

What are you guys doing for meal prep that doesn't involve spend half a fuking day to cook and get everything together?
I did rotisserie chicken with a vegetables and small side of rice for a while, but I'm burned the fk out on it to the point that it almost makes me nauseous to think about eating chicken again any time soon.
My bad cholesterol is barely inside the "high" zone. Dr said it's nothing I need meds for for now, but he wants to see it lower or long term, it could get worse and I would need to be put on cholesterol meds. So I gotta clean my diet up a little. I'm pretty amazed that's all that was bad. When I did those labs I was eating like total **** every day. I go back friday to see what it looks like now after 3 months. I've cut out almost 100% of sugars. Now fuking carbs are my hugest enemy.

Do you already have an adjustable gas block? That's gonna make the most difference obviously. My DD 10.3" with adjustable gas block and H2 buffer is super mellow shooting and I don't get any noticeable gas to the face indoors or outdoors.

Time to lay off the gumbo and cracklin.

Sounds like you already burned out the rostisserie chicken thing, which is one of my go-to's. I buy like 4 or 5 a week from Sam's or Costco and I break them down into containers in the fridge. That way, I can just grab some chicken and mix with whatever I want. Sometimes that's rice with some kind of varying sauce or sometimes it's a wrap, or sometimes just dipping the chicken into honey mustard or whatever.

But there's always things like:

- Cottage cheese with fruit
- Different kinds of wraps with lean lunch meat & cheese (higher in sodium but it's easy)
- If you have a microwave handy, there are all sorts of healthier single meals (Lean Cuisine, etc).
- Nuts and dried fruit for snacks (if you can have nuts--I can't)
- Popcorn for snacks (like Smartfood or Skinny Pop)

Turkey Chili made in a crockpot or instapot. Few dishes were left overs/reheated taste better than right out of the pot. Even Vegan Chili is really good if you totally want meat out.

You can use Beyond Meat as well, but at $10/lb...???

None of this stuff is. The LMT enhanced carrier doesn't exist, not even on Gunbroker (I looked when I was going through options to fix the gas problem).

The only A5 buffer I could find in stock is the A5H4 at a couple places, so I got that, which is probably pretty good for this gun anyway. Also found the A5 receiver extension one place only. Got the green sprinco rifle spring from primary arms to use with it, can't find the vltor spring anywhere.

There is a complete $193 kit with the vltor emod stock, A5H2, spring, castle nut, and end plate, but that's the only way to get a spring or a -2 buffer and I'm not sure I want to pay for an emod stock when the stocks I have are fine and it doesn't really seem any better. I looked everywhere for the A5H2 buffer alone and vltor springs alone, you can put them in a UBR Gen 2 so I was going to do that but, can't find the buffer. geez

I used to be on three prescription meds, one for blood pressure (started at age 23 when I was like 30 lbs lighter and running 11 minute 1.5 miles)...one for thyroid...and one for both triglycerides and cholesterol (heavily genetic predisposed on all of these).

Then a little while after that I was on zero prescription meds (though I'm back on BP now, still not the other two).

I attribute it to:
-Fish oil. 2-3 grams combined EPA/DHA per day. What I take happens to be 2.4g combined EPA/DHA daily (or more, third party testing says it exceeds label). It does all kinds of great things including for cholesterol.
-Reduced sugar intake (went to a lower sugar chocolate milk...I drink lots of chocolate milk)
-Reduced saturated fat intake (no more whole milk mostly, but just check labels on things like some burgers etc that are huge in sat fat)

What's wrong with carbs? The only thing wrong with carbs is they taste so good and you don'tneedthem so they are easiest thing to cut when cutting total calories

I guess for me, pretty much every meal is heavily centered around carbs. Seems like a lot?
Cutting out sugars for me was pretty simple. I still have sweets on occasion, but nowhere near like before.

My diet is pretty boring but easy. Every day is usually the same - ground beef and rice for a meal, chicken and broccoli and/or rice depending on how many carbs I'm trying to eat. Weekly meal prep is basically about 10 lbs of chicken (1/2 breast, 1/2 thighs), 5 lbs of ground beef, and a few cups of jasmine rice. Rice goes in a rice cooker and ground beef goes in a large pot on the stove while I grill the chicken. Mostly finishes around the same time. If I'm feeling lazy I'll just put everything away in the fridge and portion it out each night for what I need the next day, otherwise I'll portion it all out into small containers ready to go for the week.

Every now and then I'll mix it up a little when steaks or pork chops or on sale - just grill them while I'm doing the chicken. Or maybe a pork loin in the oven. This week I halved my rice portion in my beef meal and added a serving of canned black beans which has been nice.

Other low effort things I'll sometimes do are cook up a box of pasta and portion out with choice of meat and some spaghetti sauce or boxed/bagged mashed potatoes.

Been on an instant pot kick lately. Lots of stuff you can do with those that make things easier and only use one pot. Made some baked (steamed) sweet potatoes the other night in 30 minutes. I don't have much to offer for meal prep other than chicken and veggies and ground beef and rice.

I cook chicken breasts by cutting them into small cubes, season the cubes (don't be scared), then put them in a skillet with with some olive oil and med-high heat. Cook fast, stay juicy, and have lots of flavor. Look at Flavorgod seasonings if you want variety that's low sodium and sugar. Ground beef just pick up some fajita or taco seasoning packets and mix in with the meat.

Favorite instant pot chicken is 2 lbs of breasts, 1 cup low sodium chicken broth, 1 cube cream cheese, 1 packet ranch seasoning, 4 slices of cooked and diced bacon. High pressure for 12 minutes, quick release, shred the chicken and let it sit on warm for a few minutes to thicken up. Eat it with rice or some pasta. Hell yeah brother.

Thanks. A5H3 was already out of stock but I got an A5H2 and the kit with the regular carbine buffer I think H0 on their scale plus their spring and an end plate and castle nut. Can't find their own springs anywhere either hardly and doubt I'll ever use the light buffer but you never know

also lol I had just recently ordered from weapon outfitters to get that forward assist gas vent

Weapon Outfitters is good people. I have a Vltor spring that came with my BCM upper and it seems a lot softer then the Sprinco green. I think it’s shorter too. So probably better off with the green spring.

My meal prepping lately has been simple, and required little cooking. Basically I cook rice, maybe some turkey.

Sides:
I buy the seasoned rice boxes. Takes maybe 20 minutes to cook. I buy frozen veggies, just throw them in Tupperware and once I microwave my meal the veggies are fine.

Meats:
I cook a couple pounds of either ground turkey, or beef to use for basically burrito bowls. Then I go to Costco and use ether rotisserie chicken, their chicken skewers... whatever precooked, ready to eat chicken they have. Then do the same with some kind of beef. They usually have turkey. But yeah... Costco and Sam’s both have a fair amount pre-cooked meats (usually frozen).

If you check out near the rotisserie chicken they have other simple stuff too. Pre-made stuffed peppers (you’d have to cook them). They have good street tacos (12 in the package, so I make 4 meals out of it) that require zero cooking.
Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.

Performance and performance alone dictates the predator in any food chain.

I want to start taking fish oil but damn't I've never been able to take large pills. If someday I'm prescribed a big pill to save my life, I'll just have to die.

lol, as I'm sure you know it's 100% psychological. If you do it right you can't even tell. I eat 4-5 of that size at a time (1g oximega fish oils and orange triad multis that are almost as big, plus other things, I do 7 of the fish oil+multis at a sitting). Don't even get me started on when I used to take animal pak + animal flex lol brb 20 pills

It's like this
*Do not use water
*Begin to drink liquid (pop, non-skim milk, juice)
*Pop pills into mouth 'on top' of liquid
*Swallow as normal, tilt chin down if it helps, swig a chaser if it helps (should only matter if you're half assing it)

Don't waffle, some things (not fish oil, you're good there, but other things) the coating starts to dissolve immediately upon getting wet and it can get sticky...

I did my best to avoid twss
