So much for keeping it close…need to air it out now. At this point I just want some garbage stats for Vance McDonald for selfish reasons but looks like they have him blocking.

Deja vu all over again. Keeping this one a little closer but not really much to feel good about this game.

And stupid me for thinking Vance McDonald would actually get used in the passing game for a change.

Honestly I didn't expect a game like this. Sad the running game didn't show up and of course gabbert isn't that great.

Edit…

Gabbert blows and there goes the game.

Vance with a big TD but then a big drop as well. Fuuuuuuu.

Overall was a weird game. Some positives, but then right after each positive was a bigger negative it seemed.

Gonna have to regroup and go get a W in Seattle.

Lost to the best team in the NFC at their house, on a short week. Lynch can't some soon enough, really need the pass rush.

I don't even know what to expect with Seattle. They are to the Niners what the Rams are to them.

My thoughts about the game:

Honestly I thought the Defense played ok considering they lost. There was no pass rush and that makes our secondary look weak. I blame the O'neil for this one. There were to many mismatches on the secondary. We need bigger guys playing against bigger receivers. There were a few big plays that were blown and that did not help. They kept the game close in the first half. During the second you could see they were tired.

Offensively I am not sure how to improve. I like how the oline is playing and we do have guys getting open down field. Gabbert just isn't very good. Not sure why we couldn't run the ball yesterday. Hyde is a good RB but he couldn't do anything. Not sure if the play calling wasn't great or that the panthers played that much better and stopped the run. For the most part when we did try to pass we were moving the chains. Gabbert throw to big interceptions late in the game. If you get rid of those and we scored on one the game would be a lot closer.

Overall I expected us to get beat much worse than that. On a positive note we are still putting up more points that we have in a long time. So that is at least something to build off of. Sorry for the ramblings. I just wanted to get that out there before I forgot.

I don't understand it. I thought you had to have it when you go down to the ground. My only thought would be if it were a play in the middle of the field it would have been called a fumble?

Week 2 report card: Tough but expected. Short week traveling to the defending NFC champs house is a tough task to hand to a young team that is rebuilding.

QB: C, Gabbert just isn’t consistent. He has to get better if he wants to be the QB. He did make some nice throws and he did have some drops so I will give him credit. His downfield accuracy just isn’t there.

RB: C, kind of hard to get any yardage against one of the best defenses in the league especially when they don’t respect the passing game.

WR: D, two games in and we don’t have a WR with 100 yards. Without looking at the all 22 I don’t know if they aren’t getting open or Gabbert just doesn’t find them. I think they just aren’t getting open.

TE: D, other than McDonald’s long TD catch and his drop they were invisible. Celek had a drop too.

Oline: B+, they had a really good game pass blocking and didn’t allow Carolina to harass Gabbert. They didn’t however seem to open a lot of holes in the run game. I guess when you are facing an 8 man box its hard for 5 guys to block 8.

Dline: C, they were awful average. No pressure on the QB and they didn’t play in the backfield.

OLB: C, same with the dline. No pressure whatsoever. Feels like we have three average OLBs. Sure hope Lynch comes back and makes this group better.

ILB: B, Bowman is everywhere. Hodges made a great play in forcing a fumble. Armstrong didn’t do as well as he did last week.

CB: C, they had a rough game but to give them credit Cam had time to pick them apart and some of the throws he made was against good coverage. Robinson went out early which I think he was suppose to take on KB with his height.

S: F, Bethea had a bad game. He didn’t look good in preseason neither IMO. It maybe time for the 49ers to let Tartt play.

Overall this loss was expected. I thought we’d keep it close and we did make a short lived come back towards the end of the game so theres that!!! Cam Newton made some outstanding throws against good coverage and Kelvin Benjamin is a man amougst boys. Got to look at the bright side, we are tied for first place in the division and the Seahawks were held without a touchdown by the Rams.

It was like 27-34 late in the 4th, and honestly first year HC in a rebuild year down a touchdown the the SB runner ups? I can't say its a bad loss I really cant
If we take away Hyde's fumble and Gabbert's 2 interceptions we could have kept it much closer. Not going to say would could have won because we would need to score but those were costly mistakes and Carolina took advantage of those.
