It was an odd game that's for sure. Seemed like we just weren't prepared for Forrest f*cking Whitacker. Went from a close game to a laugher to a close game again to one that isn't actually indicative of the final score.

I hope people aren't ripping Jimmie Ward apart for Benjamin TDs like they did when he gave up the Brandon Marshall TDs. I wasn't surprised to see PFF give him a positive grade for the game. You can only do so much on some of those plays when the ball is placed perfectly and the WR has 5+ inches on you. Not to mention one of those big plays was just a great play by Benjamin to still make the grab despite Ward trying to punch the ball out.

OL looked good again which is great…Tiller needs to get healthy or Garnett needs to get out there cuz Martin just isn't cutting it. Pretty sure as soon as he came into the game the OL started giving up quicker pressure and let to some really poor plays.

Honestly if we wind up with a top 2 pick it may be a tough decision whether we go QB or Myles Garrett. The dude would make this defense beastly and is a sure thing. A QB is a bigger need but very few are ever sure things.

Really we need Cleveland to win more games than us. They're probably the only team who's likely to pick top 10 who has a clear QB need without another guy in place that they may want to stick with and improve the team in another capacity.

He's rotated in with Ray Ray Armstrong. Armstrong plays more passing downs. Hodges is run downs.

Speaking of Ray Ray it sucks he got injured cause he was clearly ahead on the roster and playing well. Hope his injury isn't major but I heard pectoral so prolly not great.

Tiller needs to stay healthy and yes Martin isn't good. He gave up a sack 1 on 1 and basically looked like **** on that play. Tiller only missed 4 snaps so maybe just needed a retape or something. That said he needs to stay healthy too.

I'm not overly concerned with the loss to Carolina, weird game and it was short rest, hot and humid, and Gabbert was not that great. Neither was the run O or the pass rush. Or much of anything, but we managed to "make it close." I dunno I think all in all we got beat by a superior team.

This week I think Seattle is very beatable and looking forward to the game a lot. I think we have a strong chance to come away with the win and get up in the division.

yeah, i'm also feeling optimistic about seattle. With wilson hurting and their Oline playing like crap, I think we have a great chance of winning 9-3 as well.

A little worried about Ray Ray going out. He was looking good and Hodges is a step back and Wilhoite is like two. Curious to see what we do there. Maybe when Lynch is back move Brooks inside? Bring Skov up? Sign someone? I dunno. This staff seems open to keeping the best players out there so hopefully they do.

Also heard Tartt was out today so hopefully nothing major there. They need to turn around and make a statement this week and beat Seattle.

I hate feeling this way because the season is so early but I can already see what happens this year…I think we win like 7-8 games this year and end up picking mid teens. Say bye bye to the top prospects in this draft and bye bye Kizer and possibly Falk. I think we'd have to considering going in on Garappolo if we don't have a shot at those guys and if we don't get any of them it's going to be more and more frustrating.

I really want to have that QB again which you know can get you 9 wins on his own every season. The more i see of DeShone Kizer the more I like the kid but the better he plays the less chance we can get him…such a dick punch.

If anyone hasn't watched him play it's pretty impressive. Kid is getting better and better each game and has the size for the NFL, throws a great pass with great arm strength and can move. Gonna suck seeing him waste away in Cleveland. Deshaun Watson better step his game up.

I'm with ya. Feel like either Kizer or Watson would eventually thrive in Kelly's offense. Would love to get a chance at one of them but I think its unlikely we lose more than 10 games (and I doubt we'd trade up). I say draft WR/DL with the first pick and draft a QB like Kaaya/Mahomes/Falk in the later rounds if we can't trade for Garappolo.

Not ideal, but seems the most realistic.

I feel like this seahawks game can go well, or also like week 3 last season and mirror that game vs AZ.

I think it will be close because Seattle is banged up. I'm unsure how our offense will do against them their defense has played very well this season not it's typical dominant form but consistent. I think we keep this game close because their offense is super beat up and that plays into our strengths but it will be tough putting up points on them unless Gabbert starts making better throws.

Whoever turns the ball over less wins.

I just don't think Seattle is nearly as good as they have been in years past. I think right now we are a better team and have a strong chance to win. My only issue is we haven't been consistent at all last year two years and so far this season. Pair that with injuries like Ray Ray's, Gabbert's inaccuracy, and playing an away game and we don't know which team will show up. I think we easily have the capability but don't know if they will go out and do it.

I hope they do so we can know that this team is trending upward and progressing but I am not sure of that until we see the result of this Sunday.

I agree a lot with this. We know how to play Seattle so expect the team to know who to play against them. The only thing is if we can be consistent at it. Defense needs to contain and get pressure on Wilson. Offense they need to run and be able to pass the ball.

I watched their games and I don't think they've caused any turnovers. The RBs are gonna have to hold on to the ball. Might be a Phil Dawson type of game, reminiscent of Akers in Harbaughs first year, last time we beat them at the link.

Seattle reloaded with a bunch of young players so they may not be as good as years past but its probably only a matter of time until they get better unless all the young players they got don't develop. We have to take advantage of their poor oline play and Wilson's potential ankle injury. If he's unable to run around for 30 seconds before throwing the ball we have decent chance.

Cleveland has 2 1st round picks, they could very easily take the best player available such as Myles Garrett (have you seen their pass defense?) and then move up for a QB with the 2nd 1st rounder.

What pisses me off is that Eagles dumped Chip Kelly, their franchise QB looks great, and the 1st rounder they got from Minnesota might be a mid 1st round pick if the Vikings struggle to make the playoffs with their injuries. I hate Howie Rosman. He's like Jed, Paraag, and Trent all rolled into one personality wise, but he's looking like the early candidate for executive of the year.

Despite the points being scored, I do not believe the 49ers have the offensive talent to even compete in their winnable road games (Falcons, Bills, Dolphins, Rams). I still feel this is a 6-10 at best which should give them a top 10 pick.

Pisses me off the Bears and Redskins who will also be looking for a QB suck. Oh yeah, Tyrod Taylor has a huge option clause in his contract for next year, so add the Bills as a QB needy team especially if Rex Ryan gets fired and the new coach decides to start over.
The strong will stand, the weak will fall.

http://www.ninersnation.com/2016/9/2...nsive-problems

Quick highlight of Gabberts inaccuracy. For people who complained about Kap I think Gabbert leaves a lot of the same to be desired. Issue to me is this is Gabbert at his best and that was Kap not at his best.

First video he just flat out mis times his throw and tries to laser in in to Torrey when he could have led him easily and got a completion.

Second one he locks on to the right side and ignores the fact the safety heads that way immediately leaving Torrey 1 on 1 with a LB while he's running a vertical route. Easiest TD ever if he just lofts one up to Torrey. Not great to see him miss that throw on such an easy concept. Basically throw deep away from the safety but he seemed locked to the right side pre and post snap and forced an incompletion.

Just food for thought but last year everyone was stoked on Gabbert and I couldn't quite see why. He does an ok job but that's it. Let's just hope this week he can be on his A game and not turn it over and maybe the run game gets going too. We're gonna need to keep putting up points however we can get em and try to hold Seattle offense to what they have been able to get so far.

Neither guy is the answer. Gabbert is a good dude but he's like a lesser version of Alex Smith at this point…just as risk averse except less accurate. Pass.

The more I think about it and the more I see our schedule and how other teams are looking I think we'll be just good enough to not be bad enough for a top QB prospect.

I think when it's said and done DeShone Kizer and Deshaun Watson will be the Peyton Manning/Ryan Leaf, Drew Bledsoe/Rick Mirer, Andrew Luck/RG3 type discussions at the top. IMO in the end Kizer will go #1 to Cleveland and some team will trade up for Watson or draft him at #2 if they have needs at QB.

Right now Cleveland is the obvious choice at QB as they have 2 1st round picks.

Buffalo, Washington, Chicago are also in play at QB. Buffalo and Washington have Taylor and Cousins but they're in similar contracts to what Alex Smith signed here in 2012. Definitely can be improved upon.

IMO we'll be looking at Brad Kaaya(not a fan) and Luke Falk(definitely a fan) or a very likely possibility is trading for Garappolo who I believe we may have been interested in back when the Pats drafted him.

One thing is certain we need a legit QB. Hopefully we find that guy soon. I like the idea of Garappolo, he's still young and had time to sit and learn from two of the best to do it with Belichick and Brady.

Will be very curious where we end up picking and who's picking ahead of us. I don't see Baalke doing a Rams/Eagls like trade up for a QB but damn the more I watch Kizer the more I like what I see. NFL size, great arm, good pocket presence, good leadership…just looks the part and should get better every year.

Not sure how much NE needs another QB but we can put up Ponder and a draft pick for trade right now for Garappolo. I doubt that would happen or if they would consider trading him at this moment. Part of me thinks that Brisset isn't really hurt and they are playing that game so they keep Garappolo. Brady might have a good year or two left (maybe more), but having Garappolo is nice. He looks real nice and of course sitting behind Brady is nice. They could see him as the future when Brady retires.

Then again they could trade him anyways and draft another Qb.

I doubt they'd trade him mid season cuz you never know what can happen but after the season i'd be very surprised if they kept him. They do this every few seasons…draft the next potential guy and then trade him away since Brady is still Brady.

This will be a tough decision for them because Garappolo is the earliest pick they've used on QB since Drew Bledsoe if i'm not mistaken and he was clearly playing very well before hurting his shoulder and as great as Brady is…time will catch up to him. Do they let a potential pro bowl player leave who can play another 15 seasons just because they have Tom Brady for maybe another 5 max?

I have a feeling next offseason will be very interesting no matter what our record is this season. I know our front office isn't known for handing out big free agent contracts but I do think we'll target some key players. Alshon Jeffrey would look pretty good in Chip's offense…as long as we get the QB to get him the ball.

And I can't believe how bad sports Misc is getting. Used to be able to have some good discussions on the game and get people interested in build a team threads…now it's just idiots and trolls.

May just stick to this thread and avoid the majority of the other chit. I have a hard time not taking the troll bait sometimes but what's sad is I think most of these guys legit believe some of the chit they say.

Seriously is bad on all levels. How many threads do there need to be about people who believe Brady is a system QB, Rodgers is trash, or that Kaep just wants attention.

I don't believe in spending a lot on free agency, but I think if you're a playoff team that feels they need those one or two missing pieces (Denver), then why not. I think now the Niners are a good QB away from being a playoff team, maybe a Garoppolo trade or signing. Same for Jeffrey, we desperately need a WR like that, but only and only if there's a capable QB at the helm.

Trade for Garoppolo, sign Jeffery in the offfseason?

Sounds pretty good to me

That plus a good draft would be a great off season.

We have about 43.8 million in cap space right now.

Cut Kap next year, and that rises to more then 50 million. Not sure about who needs to be signed/what exactly our cap number will be, but that gives us a LOT of room to play with.

Definitely gonna be interesting. I'm hoping maybe another team can fall apart worse than Cleveland(doubtful) or Cleveland goes Deshaun Watson with #1 overall and we're in position to trade up or draft Deshone Kizer.

Kid is having another great game today. Football attributes are terrific and the more i read about him he sounds like he has it upstairs too. DO want!
