Happy thx giving bros!!

Question for anyone who may have an answer

Have been doing some research as I'm looking to pick up a smp 300 (Bond version) in the next month or so, what do you guys think about the cal 1120 vs the cal 2500 in those models? I've read a bit about the difference in beat rate, accuracy of each watch sitting vs being worn, etc. It seems there's a large camp that favors the 1120, any one in here have both?

I really enjoy the sword hands, but I prefer the dial and over all look of the later smps with the rounded date window, and smooth black dials (vs wave) with applied round indices.

Thought on which is superior to the other? I realize they're similar movements based on the 2892-a2 but to be honest that doesn't mean a whole lot to me cause I don't know much about watch movements in terms of mechanical parts etc.

Just the perspective of the pic mostly but it does wear larger than 36mm due to the long lugs. The size of this watch could not be more perfect for me.

You can't go wrong with either. There is a huge cult following for the 1120, but the cal 2500 is great, too. Whichever one speaks to you more. Just keep in mind that the cal 2500 is indeed a coaxial, and will cost slightly more to service.

Wanting to pick up new piece to celebrate a new position I just got at work. Want to keep it below $5000. I want a ****ing Panerai, but **** they're so overpriced for what you get. But I love them SOO much. For under 5 grand you get an ETA movement and no bracelet, just seems like a kick in the nuts. I'm able to snag an Omega PO Titanium Liquidmetal for that!! I'm currently down to my Speedy and Gshock frogman. I've thinned everything out and starting fresh, no more flipping. Hopefully…

I can also find the new blue pelagos for under $4000 brand new, and even the seamaster 300 for the same price.

I'd throw that on the OEM bond nato for sure.

Lovely, but a leaves quite a bit to be desired in the bang for buck department.

Thread still active enough for me to beg for some guidance? Nursing student, so I'm looking for something to wear the few days a week I'm in the hospital and for a night out if I feel like it. Will likely be my daily once I graduate and am working 4-6 a week. Right now I just have some cheap Casio (MRW-200H) momma picked up when she ran out the one day. Feel like it's extremely thick at 12mm and cumbersome with the rubber straps.

7.5" wrist. Like the field watch sort of style and am leaning towards chronographs (could actually be of use with some of the patients and procedures). Think I want a cloth or calfskin band? Just not metal. Want to keep it under $200. Tried to stick to the "best under $500" list in the OP and gravitated towards these. I also liked a pair of Timex (expedition and linear chronograph), but have heard their rep is so so. Thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc? Virgin as can be in terms of watches.

Def agree on Panerai not giving bang for the buck. Love the look of them, but any Panerai I'd like to own quickly leaves what I'd be willing to pay, at least for now.

I just can't unsee the five lines of text on the Tudor's dial. It's not the worst thing in the world, but I think it does add clutter to the dial.

I'd go with either of the Omegas you posted. I'm a fan of the 300 despite the faux patina, and I'm a sucker for blue bezels/dials, so you can't go wrong with either IMO.

bit the bullet after some research on the cal 1120 vs cal 2500 and i have an smp (2531.80, cal 1120 movement) on the way, it has a bit of bracelet stretch, but it looks to be in good shape, had a recent service, and i think i got a decent price on it.

will post photos when it arrives.

business as in wear under a coat jacket?

if you can afford another hundred bucks the sarb033 and sarb035 (whichever is the black dial) may suit you best.

Just landed today. Absolutely blown away by it. Fit and finish are amazing. Lume is on par with Seiko almost, bezel lume is as strong as on the dial. Wasn't sure about the blue in pictures, but it's perfect in person. Not as bright and cartoonish as pictures make it look. Closest color comparison would be the blue the Indianapolis Colts use. Bracelet and clasp are awesome, plus an OEM rubber as a part of the package. Got it shipped to my door from an AD for $4,000. Definitely a keeper, dare I say I love it more than I loved my sub. Better bezel action and better lume for sure.

Holy hnnnnng, just made an agreement for a sickening watch trade this Sunday. So incredibly excited. Don't wanna say what it is and jinx the trade lol, but I'm getting rid of the white Nomos Club I literally just got and planned to keep. Oh well, that's easily replaceable and this other is not at all.

Also congrats Busch, on the job and dat CHOODAH!

can you post pics that arent so close? aka the entire case, bracelet, case back would be cool to look at, and would better your chances of someone being able to identify a fraud

Yeah I will get some later. Just figured that the face would be an area that has the most tip-offs to whether it is real or fake.
Which other areas should be pictured that can best determine the authenticity?

im no expert so really can't say, but i would think to look for things like incorrect placement of text, different fonts, underpowered magnification window, the teeth on the bezel, not being as crisp/sharp, color of dials, color of bezel, text on the base back, condition and quality of the clasp, and emblems, etc.

i believe texasbrah (think thats his un, he hasnt posted on this page yet) is pretty knowledgable about rolex.
