Many "I only use natural light brah" photographers miss out on many opportunities because of their reluctance to work with the sun and use strong fill so most of their daytime shots are in the shade which gets old fast.

Maybe I should've used a dumbell instead of the vitamins bottle (and a tripod to use ISO 200 instead of ISO 6400)

Just because the lens is F/1.2 doesn't mean I have to shoot at f/1.2 aaaaall the time. The steak was great though

sup brah, havent looked at the thread for a looong time….

i shoot olympus, first the em-5, now an em-1

i love the form factor and versatility of the system, the pro lenses for general use or small primes if i want a smaller setup
the handling is really intuitive and quick, also a bit more discreet compared to a dslr
picture quality is really good too, but of course a full-frame setup as used by most in here has a few advantages:
higher resolution(if you need to crop),dynamic range, high iso(low light shooting) and continous autofocus….
the oly can do all the things you may encounter, but the smaller sensor cant cheat physics obviously

all being said, it is a great camera in a complete ecosystem and (for me) the best compromise between size and output quality

Thanks brah. I was asking because I like the features provided by the newer m4/3 cameras but I think I'll wait till Photokina to see the GH5 and OMD-EM1ii (and if the x-t2 is good for video then I'll just keep using the x-system lol)

id do that too, will be interesting if and how pana and oly will step up their game technically-featurewise the top-of-the-line m43 cameras dont leave much to be desired
fuji seems to be a great system too and catering to roughly the same audience as m43

Noiiice.
I wish I lived somewhere that I didn't need to drive 3 hours to get a relatively light-pollution-clear sky, and that wasn't cloudy on a reliable basis. That'd be neat.

Did you have to do this on a tripod with long exposures, or could you really just take a shot of what you saw?
Light pollution really kills those views.

Definitely a tripod..basically impossible without one. Shutter speeds are 25-30s and some for foreground are 5 minutes.

First pic, her blotchy legs/knees throw off the shot.
Second pic, crossing her wrists like that forces her head to turtle downward between her shoulders, making the pose look awkward. Have her turn her head one way of the other to elongate her neck and give the pose more balance.

Looking for some advice. I've gotten into still life photography. It's all arty and I find it a lot of fun, but I haven't been very impressed with the lenses I have as they're the kit lenses that came with my Rebel T5i so started looking at Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens. The lenses run about $130.

But then I read a lot on the Olympus Zuiko OM 50mm f/1.4,

which I've found some used for $30 sometimes !
People really thought a lot of the lens and I thought the photo quality was great.

Question is assuming the Olympus is 100% manual? Do you stick with the manufacture's OEM lenses or do you pick lenses for the job you want not being concerned with Auto Focus. I can afford the $100 Canon, but thought it was interesting to trial and error other things.

For all I know the Olympus is a lens from the film era.

Anyone know of some kind of system that has the functionality/stability of a tripod, but is more maneuverable? I looked at one of the monopods w/ the feet but they dont seem to be able to drop into portrait orientation. I have naturally shaky hands so I sometimes get motion blur at even 1/250th (Phukkin sync speed). Been using tripods but they are so cumbersome.
