Been a while, Misc fker crew.

Recently put a bolt rifle together. Wish I did it sooner. Super fun to shoot…also not cheap with current ammo prices and not being a reloader. FGMM is $35+/ box currently…

Howa 1500 Oryx in 308 with a Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24X50 with a set of American Rifle Co rings, Precision Armament Hypertap brake, and an Accu Tac Bipod. (BTW this bipod ****s all over anything I've ever played with from Harris or Atlas.)

Best I have done with it was about 1.1 MOA. I'm sure it can do better, but I suck at precision shooting apparently. Either way, I'm pretty happy with it being all in for $2k between rifle and optic.

Really want to put a CZ 457 together now…

If you guys need plate carrier/chest rig **** Spiritus Systems is doing their only sale of the year right now. Giving away a lot of cool **** as well. Some of the best gear out there and made by 10th Mountain bois.

Also here's a short clip of me on my last run of the course from Sunday. We tried to make the positions we were shooting from practical or awkward. The first car I shot from in this video was the hardest of the day. About 130m out on an A+C zone steel target from that awkward position on the car gave us some issues since the view of the steel target only showed the top half of it and having a very narrow window to see the rest of it between other cars further down range.

Great match grade .223, cost for me altogether was $140 for one. Signature on delivery required however.

First off, I'm not an AR expert, and I don't have near the experience of some of the guys here. But, I bought one of their ultimate upper kits a few years ago and slapped it on a PSA lower and it has been very solid for me. From what I've seen on the web, they are generally well thought of.

LaRue supposedly makes some very good barrels, and parts in general.

The problem is that they cost a lot and usually backordered. Often long wait backorder.

I waited 6 months for a handguard before cancelling the order.

Yeah I've read similar things online. I figure I can build a sweet rifle for around the $1200 mark, minus a scope. Going to hold off until tomorrow and see what pops up for deals.

I bought my upper on a Black Friday deal November 2020 for about $800. They were doing kits at the time that included everything except the stripped lower. I had a couple PSA lowers lying around that I'd bought pre-covid for $40. So, all in I was around $840. I ended up waiting around 4.5 months for Larue to ship.

So has the dust settled on 80% lowers yet? I know the fed passed laws against them, but can they still be enforced? If I bought an 80% lower, and bought a jig and did the work myself to assemble an AR, is that illegal? I can't find anything recent, and yet Wyoming still doesn't seem to care lol.

What's it for? Larue upper is good but doesn't have a clchf barrel. gaysele trigger is a ripoff compared to mbt2s and his lpk is absolute mim junk and worse than a cheap cmmg lpk.

This video should answer a lot of your questions.
Really good channel. He deciphers law into easy to understand terms very well.

Thanks PR and keyboard for backing up LaRue.

Hey PR, What's clchf? I'm sort of new to the rifle world.

Brozef, thanks man. I'll watch it when I get out of work.

Edit- my potential AR build is for a duty/shtf rifle that I would need to rely on for home defense should I ever need it. I'm trying to build a quality AR for under 1200, not including a good scope. My only bias is to use Magpul stuff, since they're in Wyoming and I really like there stuff.

Magpul has got to be the best bang for the buck firearm parts company.
No other company I can think of compares.

clchf = chrome lined & cold hammer forged

Basically, means the barrel was made for really hard use, but those terms should get you far enough to do a web search if you want to do a deep dive.

Thanks for the help guys.

I've been looking into LaRue stuff for the past week, and I had a hard time finding any complaints about his products. Aside from some drama on AR-15.com, he does seem to have a solid company. I also found a company by the name of Stag Arms. It's funny, they used to be in New Britain, CT. Then they moved to Cheyenne, WY. I'll probably buy a lower receiver from them so I can fly their colors so to speak. LaRue upper, with a lower kit from PSA and magpul sights should get me going. The upper according to a LaRue rep is 3-5 weeks out, give or take.

Picked up a 16" Super Duty for $1450 yesterday on the tail end of their sale.

Wonder if it'll really be a step up from the Wilson, LWRC, BCM, and LaRue rifles I run now.

Those are all quality brands. I know I'm not discriminating enough to tell a difference between any one of them. Let us know what you think when you get it.
