bro i have been using that canon $130 lens for a few years - cant go wrong with that - it is IMO the best value/pefromance vs price on the market. here's a sample just before i sold it

thinking about selling my 85mm 1.8

i'm trying to do to much with it.

Like the above pictures….i'm finally realizing i just can't take those kinds of pictures with a 85mm other than the portraits. I know i can do those with the 85mm.

I need a 70-200 or 70-300mm. Even with a 70-200/70-300….I still 'have' my 85mm, correct?

(Nikon D750. First camera I have ever owned. Please excuse the lack of knowledge)

What's the 85mm worth in your opinion? Camera now has 200 clicks all from the 85mm.

I paid 430.00 shipped to my door.

I was thinking about listing it for 400.00/free shipping.

You will have 85mm but you won't have f/1.8.

A wider aperture means more light and better subject isolation. In other words, compared to a 70-200 f/4 @ 85mm, f/1.8 gives you more than 2 stops of extra light. That could be the difference between shooting at ISO 3200 and over 12,800 with the same shutter speed. Big difference. Keep in mind while VR/IS does allow you to shoot handheld at longer shutter speeds, it can't do anything about subject movement.

You will also see a significant difference in depth of field at f/4 compared to f/1.8.

Cliffs: there's a reason why a 200mm f/2 costs $6K.

What's a good asking price? I had one guy offer me 360 shipped but I told him no. I paid 425.00 shipped to my door.
Put yourself in a buyer's shoes. would you risk getting something used to save $25? I wouldn't. (last guy replied you should ask for $400 minimum). I'd expect at least $50-75 cheaper than from a legitimate store like B&H where I know I can just walk in and return it without a hassle and I know 100% its not stolen or has any defects that you might not realize until you play with it for a few days (and if it does, just walk in for an exchange).

Do you already have a ball head? If not I'd be looking at this. An extra $130 but worth it. You'd be spending even more that on a decent ball head anyway. Pan-tilt heads are more suited to video. For photography they'll frustrate you. You want a ball head for quick adjustments and you can use a $15 bubble level in the hot shoe to get everything level.

Induro GTT104M1 Grand Turismo Series 1 Stealth Carbon Fiber Tripod with BHM1 Ball Head

Other key advantages compared to the Manfrotto:

Nearly 3x the load capacity.
Shorter folded length (22.8" vs. 29") which matters when you're traveling with a smaller suitcase.
Twist locks. You'll thank me later.

Thanks for the recommendation. Although I dont currently have a telephoto for wildlife I planned on getting one, and didnt want to have to buy a new tripod for a higher load capacity. This one looks safer if I ever do end up doing that. I HATE having to buy things twice.

That's always been my approach where budget permits.

I eventually bought a Gitzo because I didn't want another tripod. It's easy to justify spending that money on something else like a lens but it's not a good feeling when it eventually fails or you find you're constantly fighting with it when working quickly to get a shot in difficult conditions.

That Induro looks like great value for money. The ball head normally sells for $90. Supports 44lbs and has an Arca style quick release.

What lighting system are you using? I've got Elinchroms and know they've recently brought out a trigger with HSS or something similar. Might be worth looking to see if you can get one of those for your system?

What's up fellas? Been a while since I've been in here. Not sure how many of you Canadian shooters make canvas prints but I got one done the other day and was very impressed with the results.

https://www.canvaschamp.ca/?cc=dGV4d...FQgaaQodF7MMZQ

Used this company to make a 30x40in piece and it came to just over $100 including tax and shipping. Thought that was a pretty good price for that size so I figured I'd pass along the info.

I have a Canon 7DII /w 18-135 MM IS STM Lens for sale. The 7DMKII has around < 5,000 shutter actuations. It's practically brand new. It's been sitting in my camera bag since November when I switched to Sony.

$1490 for both shipped or I can split them up.

If you are interested, PM me with offers.

Just so that you can get more exposure you can also sell them at DPReview and the Fred Miranda forums. Good luck selling them!
