Just got done watching this Vid and It's a must watch for everyone, truly inspiring talk from a master. It's a bit long but take your time to watch it you won't regret it.
When you come to think of it, almost all human behaviour and activity is not essentially any different from animal behaviour. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about upgrading my 650D to a 6D for an upcoming trip… I'd need to replace my old crop Sigma 30mm f1.4 prime but not sure what to get. I used to own a Canon 50mm f1.4 and it was alright… is the Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art worth the price? What other options are there for FF in that range?

I used the Canon 50mm 1.4 on my 7D when I had it and now on my 6D. It's a great lens. The Sigma will perform better if you can get a copy that will focus. I've had a ton of problems with Sigma lenses in the past not focusing.

Got a trip to Arches, Canyonlands, Antelope Canyon and Buckskin gulch in about a month, ordering some more gear, don't have the cash for the trip AND a f-stop backpack with ICUs, so Opting for my current bag that has the same open back concept, and got me a pelican case rather than an ICU, should work the same, but be more rugged.

Also about $100 for a tripod, seems to get good reviews, for hiking purposes.

Picked up Lightroom 6, but laptop cant handle it, so I have to use the work laptop, occasionally get free time with it. Done processing about 200/300 photos so far. Will 500pix and misc the good ones.

D610 body gotta go to nikon for repairs sadly.

Anyone have any clue on the lead time for them to get back to you? there seems to be some kind of an electrical issue in the body…the aperture dial does not always work (works time to time), and i cannot seem to change the aperture consistently…

Well if I had that budget I would've gotten something different. I also have one camera and three lenses, not a studio worth.

So did I, until you send it in for calibration under warranty. You almost always have to either microadjust or send in.

Do you really need three lenses tho? If you stick with one les and your camera you can get away with a regular bakcpack and a neoprene case. Funny thing is I'm doing the exact same trip in a month. good luck brah.

Assuming you're talking about the Sigma Art stuff. Microadjusted it to both ends of the spectrum, always gave the same result no matter what. Went through two copies and sent it into Sigma a couple of times. Same thing every damn time. Sigma went as far as to say I didn't know how to take a picture. Must be why all of my other lenses are on point.

It may not be nikon's fault. I was pretty roughandling the body sadly..

It could be personal use (it did go through one drop a while back).

Hopefully it just needs some electrical contact spray.

Obviously the prosumer and semi-pro bodies will never hold up to the kind of beating you can give a D4 and 1DX. Canon didn't even take weather sealing seriously with their semi-pro FF until the 5Dmk3.

Outside of a grip that stopped working I've had zero problems with Nikon over the last 10 years. Never had anything serviced by Nikon. Fell 10ft straight down the side of a mountain and landed directly on my back (camera bag). Expected my 70-200 2.8 to be cactus. Didn't skip a beat and that was nearly 5 years ago.

non art

the problem is, the lenses are usually too wacky to microadjust. I can't even microadjust as far as I need to because it front focuses by over 20 when I'm near minimal focal distance. When I'm farther than 5-10 feet away, it back focuses by around 5-10 so really the only thing to do is send it in.

Dom, do you have a website/portfolio? A friend that I shoot weddings together is moving out to Australia for a couple of years and I've been telling her about your work, would it be possible for me to show her? (Australian Dom didn't get me very far in google)

New to the thread. I just got a new camera and started shooting again. I've taken photos on and off for the last 9 years, so I know things have changed a lot. What is a good setup for post processing? I have Lightroom and Photoshop CC. Are the Nik filters still popular? Or are there any essential lightroom/ PS plugins out there I need? Also, what's a good setup to color calibrate my monitor?

Here's a bagged Mazda I shot for a friend last week
