Yeah I heard about this on the news. I just can't understand why we aren't doing more work with bacterio****es and other means to combat these diseases not through antibiotics.

Welp there goes my hope for non essential cosmetic surgeries. It's so so so scary.

This was bound to happen, so I'm not surprised.

Sucks tho.

I aslso has me thinking younger kids are ****ed. My BF's mom is a hypochondriac and went tto the doctor who threw antibiotics at every little sneeze and sniffle so he has a chit immune system these days. I see other moms who have kids the same age as mine (3) who have CONSTANT infections and are constantly one stuff. Luckily I would not allow that and let my kid work through most of the little bugs they've had. They've only been on antibiotics once in three years. So she's got a tank of an immune system.

You realize your body is equipped to fight infections on its own right? Antibiotics didn't come out until the 1900's, how did humans survive before?

I've had multiple large lacerations and never an infection. Even split my hand open on a rusted can lid outside, no infection, no antibiotics.

Also gonorrhea will go away on its own if left untreated long enough in those with a normal immune system. There are multiple modern documented cases stupid fuks

This **** should scare you if you're an infant or over 50 only. And if you're over 50 why the fuk do you want to live any longer anyway.

only solution is to live deep in the woods of siberia. you will live in very cold temperatures hard to survive by majority of bacteria, you are isolated from all the new strains in the moderns world, your immune system is bound to boost due to harsh environment and eating natural food.

Guess what, deaths from MRSA are increasing rapidly and 10 years is NOTHING on an evolutionary scale, lmfao at thinking 10 years is a long time in biology. The reason it's not a full blown epidemic yet is because very few bugs are actually resistant to all strains of AB, so they can still be treated. Bacteria that is resistant to 9/10 types of AB is no more deadly than bacteria who is resistant to 0/10 kinds, as long as you have access to right kind. However AB resistance is a pretty new phenomenon and AB resistant strains are increasing exponentially. Once you get to the point where they are resistant to all strains though, there is nothing to be done at all. So deadlyness won't rise linearly, like you seem to think, but rather we will hit a critical tipping point where all the medical advances of the last century will go out the window.

And guess what, it's all because of ignorant morons like you lapping up big pharma and livestock breeder propaganda and spouting your worthless uninformed opinions about things of which you don't have the slightest ****ing clue. And it's not just you, many other retards like you in this thread. It's people like you who are enabling politicians and greedy corporate chitbags to get away with the idiocy that has led us to this point. Bravo.

And lmfao at thinking this will only cull the weak. You realize if this happens we won't be able to perform surgery anymore? Good luck willing away your appendix with your positive alpha attitude. You can literally die from cutting your leg at the beach. Women will die in childbirth, won't be able to repair broken limbs etc etc.

Just lol @ all the idiots in this thread srsly. Hopefully we will find away at averting this catastrophe but if you think this is anything like SARS or Ebola you are a phucking moron.

What if I told you that you don't need to find a new antibiotic? Instead of trying to find new antibiotics, researchers have been trying to make old antibiotics more effective. For the non science brahs, one way antibiotic resistant organisms work is by have transporters in their cell membranes that pump out antibiotics. If you find a chemical that specifically blocks a transporter then your good old antibiotics can do their thing. Of course a transporter is only one of several defense mechanisms antibiotic resistant organisms have.

Different sources of antibiotics and antibiotic supplements (such as transport blockers) are also relatively untapped. Almost all known antibiotics are derived from the soil, the ocean can potentially source a lot of useful chemicals.

Cliffs: We aren't fooked.

Ofcourse was this going to happen.THE SELECTIVE PRESSURES THAT DOESN'T EXTINCT A SPECIE, MAKES IT STRONGER

We should ban the use of antimicrobials when they can't kill 100% of the microbe population. If we know that there is a variation within the specie that can survive the antimicrobials, than they should not be used since we are literally doing eugenics on the microbes, this will be the end of humanity of we keep on going down this road. If your bodies immume system can't combat certain microbes on it's own, than it's morally justified for you to LDAR. This is a environmental issue that is NOT dogmatic unlike global warming which I think is purely dogmatic, you only have to understand darwinism. I talked about this with my uncle who has a PhD in Medicine and this is what he is saying, that we are going to end humanity simply because we rely on medical assistance than defies the evolutionary selective pressures.

Guys we should stop the use of antibiotics AT ALL, don't find new ones. You're only practicing eugenics on the microbes and you will even make it harder for the human body without antibiotics to survive.

It's basicly this:
-Either you stop using antibiotics and those with weak immune systems die now.
-We keep using antibiotics and the extinction of the whole human race will happen later.

This is the absolute truth.

Doctors used to hand out antibiotics every time you went to their office. They're actually being less liberal with doing that because of the resistance problem.

But Big Pharma won't develop any new antibiotics because there's no money in it. So we're all dead because companies can't make a few bucks....

In your attempt to spread panic to push whatever retarded cause you have, you left out a very important portion of the title:
"Antibiotic Resistance Will Kill 10 Million People A Year By 2050; Report Shows Grim FutureIf Changes Aren't Made"

Pretty sure that "CHANGES WILL BE MADE" before we get to that point. Not to mention other advances in science between now and 2050. Think about where we were 34 years ago and where we are today. If you think they won't adjust and deal with this issue you are nuts.

If there hasn't been money in it for a long time then it's because there hasn't been a need for new antibiotics in a long time. Massive profits would be available to the company that has the only antibiotic that can fight a certain bacteria. People aren't going to develop new antibiotics before they know there is a need for it.

Antibiotic resistance will kill a MINIMUM of 10 million/year by 2050.

http://www.medicaldaily.com/antibiot...-future-316730

The medical world will enter an 1800s style era.

-Childbirth will become deadly again for women
-Simple operations like appendix removal or hernia repair will no longer be possible without huge risk of infection and death(For those who don't know, antibiotics are used in EVERY surgery that is performed.)
-Simple cuts will lead to deadly infections.
-Tuberculosis will once again kill thousands
-STDS will become untreatable. Cases Antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea are appearing by the hundreds

http://www.bbc.com/news/health-21702647

And if you still don't believe me, here's a final, terrifying read.

********************/@fernnews/imagini...e77#.99wkhbtd7

COMMON RESPONSES/MISCONCEPTIONS:

1. "But surely, the medical field will develop a solution" you say.

Answer: A new antibiotic has not been developed since 1980.

2. "Won't the drug companies be scrambling to find a solution? Doesn't it make them money?"

Answer: No. Antibiotics provide very little profit for drug companies and leave them with no incentive to pursue a solution.

3. "Surely, the government will intervene and initiate a massive research project that will not stop until a solution is found."

Answer: On the contrary, the government is providing no funding right now for antibiotic- resistance research. In addition, the FDA continues to allow farmers to drug their animals with multiple antibiotic strains.

4. "This is just another scare like bird flu, swine flu, or Ebola."

Answer: No. Bird flu, swine, and Ebola are viruses, not bacteria. These viruses were quickly brought under control because the carriers were placed in isolation.

Deadly bacteria cannot be placed in isolation. Hundreds of thousands of different strains of bacteria surround us in everyday life. They are in the air we breath, the water we drink, the food we eat, and even our own intestines. They cause literally thousands of different diseases and infections. It is impossible to isolate and contain bacteria like a virus.

Tour is gonna be over soon boyos. Some scary a*s sh*t.

with the rise of the zika virus and resistance of anti biotics a new race humans will begin, the rejects who are 0/10 deformed, with super strength , who love to eat human meat. Humans will be weakened by lack of anti biotics in the last ditch effort to defeat the new zika race, they will activate AI program the TETUS which will destroy all of earth, to begin building galactic infrastructure and consume all resources from earth and begin assimilating nearby planets for more resourcs and power, only to find out that an advance human species feared that this would happen but the council stated to let the human's on earth find there way. Because of the failure they will have a huge war against TETUS perfected AI with superior weaponry and resources it will be a battle for the last of the human race even with anti aging and advance technology can they defeat the emotionless TETUS body of indescructible elemental metals able to withstand all temperatures and morph into anything ?
I just want to share the knowledge I have obtained throughout my life and hopefully change someone's life.
