Like I said, I can hit 225 for 30+ on flatbench, but I CANNOT OHP 225 for more than maybe 2 or 3. Either standing or sitting. I've tried all different rep ranges and methods and OHP is my absolute worst exercise. I don't even touch it anymore. My shoulders respond better to isolations and tons of volume.

So frustrating though, I spend about 6 weeks incorporating them into my routine and I did not get better at all.

OHP can be tough if you have longer arms, depending on your anatomy. I've done 245 standing OHP and more than that sitting, but my arm length is ideal for that lift in my opinion. Also have always had a very shoulder-dominant physique.

It'd be like staying fat while running marathons because it's more impressive to finish a marathon when you're overweight. It might be impressive in the short run, but in the long run it just doesn't make any sense. ~breathinglife

Benching is part strength, part form, and part biomechanics. For instance, a fellow at my gym is 5'8" and 165lbs. He benches 305 x3. All his other lifts are average at best. Meanwhile, with my stats, I bench 265x5, but all my other lifts blow his away. As a BBer, I focus on HOW I lift, not so much what I lift. My lifts are done slow, strict, and with full ROM and only start to cheat a little by the last rep or two.

You gotta remember that some people are much better at reps than other people, it's trainable so a person can obviously get better at it, but I know people who never, ever bench more than 5 reps so asking them to go above 15, even with a light weight, doesn't work so well

Can do 225 for sets and multiple reps but I drop the weight so I can focus on the negative motion.

I would really recommend working on form over how much the pure weight is.
