And your several posts reads like a guy who had his gf stolen from him by someone in law enforcement lol

I've been pulled over several times. Never had my car or myself match a description of someone who had committed a theft though. I assume that doesn't happen often

And to OP, if that whole deal really took over an hour and you are really this bothered by it, why don't you just call up to the police department and make a complaint?

Yeah. You can but it's not going to stop them. They'll just waste more of your time and if the particular officer is paranoid enough to think you have drugs they'll call in a k-9 unit whicj will scratch at your door on command giving them "probable cause"

It's just luck of the draw with cops - could get an arsehole or a nice bloke. Just like any form of authority in life I suppose.

You are right, if they really want to search, they can just say the smelled weed. Whether it holds up in court or not is a different matter.

This right here. I had cops tear up my school books, rip up essays that I need to turn in, "have my drink spill on papers", break chit in my car, and overall just make it look like a home from tornado ally.

Whether it should result in a ticket or not is not something I wish to get into, but wear your seat belt dumbass. I lost a nephew who was thrown from the car cause he wasn't wearing one. Only person in the car to die. He was 15. I flipped my pickup in 98 and survived because I was wearing mine.

OP, you did the right thing. If you didn't consent to a search, the cop would have likely been more angry and made it worse for you.

Sadly that's how it is with the police. You get some good ones and some bad ones. In either case, they have the power to ruin your life.

my brother got in an accident and his whole car went into a dried up ravine and flipped... one his friends went out the window, luckily he didn't get hurt too badly.
I think the worst injury was a girl broke her arm or something, also because she wore no seat belt.

hence, I have always driven pretty reserved with passengers in my car... can't be irresponsible with other people's lives... they won't think you are cool if someone gets hurt or dies, or you get pulled over by the ops.

I got you. Your life experience is different than mine. Gotta be hard to not be able to trust the cops at all. Real hard. I was watching the ESPN OJ documentary. Stopped after the second episode because it was so depressing. They covered the Rodney King beating and the girl who was shot by that store owner. I'm old and remember when it happened. I could not believe those cops got off. Absolute madness.

Sorry if I was disrespectful toward you. There are no absolutes.

seatbelts should only be required for people under 18. I wear a seatbelt 24/7, but if a grown man wants to not wear one....fine.

It's mainly just for revenue generating.

brb, lets let a highly trained dog determine if your rights should be waived for a person who is motivated to go around your rights, sounds real legit.

I bet if stats were taken, the dogs hit on 90% of the cars, just lmao

Let me clarify before this idiot gets you in trouble.

If a cop asks forpermissionto search your car, its either a yes or no. If the cop hasprobable causeto search your car, it doesn't matter what you want.

Also, because you think you don't need to be in handcuffs, doesn't mean you can have it your way. A police officer can put you in handcuffs without having to arrest you. If youre detained, youre detained, youre not going anywhere- handcuffs doesn't make you anymore detained

They can search you and your car any time they want. All they have to do is bring the dog squad car, pull dog and have the dog bark in your direction. Thats it, there goes 1 hour on the side of the road, plus the 30 mins until the dog card arrives.
