Good luck owning property if you're young in my country. I was able to buy before prices skyrocketed but a lot of young people will be forever renting.

You telling me you guys never had boner at the wrong moment and had to stand up so you made excuses as to why you couldn't stand up?
Probably what happened here, kid wasn't expecting to be standing up. Next thing you know he's sitting down and he relaxes a bit and gets a boner. Unfamiliar with your stupid protocol he gets put on the spot. His adrenaline rushes and he can't seem to get it to go flaccid so he comes up with a stupid witty remark.
This is a typical scenario. Seen it a million times. What you wanted him to stand up and have the whole circle stare at his tent? Nah, then he would lose respect. I bet you the kid didn't know the "math problem technique" to lose his boner instantly. I suggest you teach it to him so this never happens again. Understood?

Wait... You have to actually stand up like a Kindergartener to prove your worth to superiors? I can't say I blame the kid. How demeaning.

Jesus. I hope the boss has the right to sack him on the spot, Damien Lewis in Billions style. There's still such a thing as insubordination.
I don't get the whole millenials thing. I mean I agree, but I wasn't in a war, and relatively pretty much had a silver spoon in my ass compared to people in the 60s, but I still get completely blown away by these actual humans who kick and scream about everything they 'deserve'.
I can't understand why it's the modern thing to be so against self improvement or earning anything. It pissen.

Had an experience of this the other week at my job. It's decent pay but really easy and not very stimulating.
We got a bunch of new casual workers in, who are part time whilst at university. Get asked to induct a guy, he's booked in for a 3 hour induction where we basically do about 20 minutes work and are supposed to just shoot the chit the 3 hours and get him used to working here.
Literally turns up and the first words out of his mouth to me are:
"Is this going to take the entire 3 hours"?

So I'm like:
"You seriously trying to get off early on your first day"?
Him:
"No it's not that but..."
Me:
"Look you can leave now if you want, but it's not a good look when you're basically getting paid a decent amount to hang out and drink expensive coffee"
I was honestly gob smacked at the laziness and entitlement.

I'll go against "conventional wisdom" here and add that my company has done a lot of hiring over the past 2-3 years of people right out of college.
To almost a man, they've worked out good. They have computer skills, background in physics/math, and are willing to learn and are trainable. We only hire people with STEM degrees however (in before tradie vs. STEM chitstorm).
Of course, we don't hire people at $8/hour, that will get you felons. We typically pay people 50K/year out of school with a field pay differential that adds on to that. Unfortunately, with the O&G downturn we've had to let a lot of them go, they'll bounce back though.
Lol at these companies complaining about their lack of quality new hires when they pay just above minimum wage with no benefits and no advancement opportunities. With employees, as with other things, you get what you pay for.

Blame postmodernism. A method of critique that is mistaken by the slovenly as a complete social philosophy. It allows everyone the right to be special - it's tailor-made for the average and indolent. It's much better at generating objection than it is at actually generating new ideas itself - much more interested in the deconstruction of what others have made than producing anything of original worth itself. Hipsters are painfully postmodern, for random example. They don't create new culture (music, art or dance like say punk, metal or hip hop), they conspicuously consume the culture others produced before them and look to see if anyone noticed. The same with Millenials overall - all full of bad attitude and slothful indolence, nothing to add except their presence and towering ego.
