Experience with millennial in work

We had a new intern join our team for the summer - purple hair, skinny jeans etc. - did my best not to judge him.
That is, until we had our daily standup - it's 5 mins every morning where everyone gathers around to give a quick update on current work (Scrum for those familiar with software development methodologies).

So we all gather in a standing circle, and this guy is sitting in his chair on the edge of the circle. Our engineering manager asks him nicely to stand up like everyone else. He refuses and makes a smart remark about how he's comfortable sitting. Then the manager asks nicely again. He still refuses. Third time the manager says "No, I'm serious, you have to stand up." getting a little more stern.

The kid says, and I kid you not, "Are you bullying me?" - one of the senior engineers looks at him puzzled and says no, we're all standing. Eventually he begrudgingly stands up. I was shocked; never saw anything like this in my 10 year career. Acting like a spoiled little brat; idiot just signed away his offer for a job at graduation.

Looks something like this:

You are just pissed you were born with an inverted micro penor and zero woman skills. Thus, taking it out on your bosses and superiors, which is pretty much everyone.

You sound just like him. The standup is a productive meeting - it happens even if the manager isn't around - it's a TEAM update. We don't work in McDonalds bro; it's a top software company.

Only worse. For all the reasons he has listed in his signature. Opie, most are with you. Millennials (I think I may qualify at 30 years old, sadly) are a fuking disgrace. Zero work ethic and no desire to kick the world's ass. Everything handed to them on a sissy platter.

I had the ceos 18 year old daughter that was assigned to me as in intern.

i am still laughing about that one. She really tried hard but i permenently contaminated he brain with my sailorly ways.

One of my proudest accomplishments to be honest.

Why they picked my i have no idea but that poor kid certainly will never be the sweet innocent thing she was when she showed up.

If I was your boss I'd start giving the kid more and more work until he either quit or couldnt produce and then fire him. I hate my generation.

They are spoiled to death their whole lives - I'd blame the current SJW college scene and the victim mentality it promotes too.

Also everyone that is under 34 years old or so that you work with is also a millennial.

So most of you are old millennials dealing with the last of the younger millennials.

Anyone born after 2004 is gonna be the next gen so there is only a few more years left of the millennial master race.

This reminds me of my soccer team. So our sort of team initiation thing we did was that all freshman and transfer players had to choose a girl from the girls soccer team (we all traveled together for conference games), and serenade them. So I went first my year, of course, and I had to serenade a girl in front of both teams and coaches, plus half of olive garden.

It was all in fun though. And the girls did the same thing so they would serenade us. We we all nervous af, etc. The thing was, it was tradition. For 25 years this tradition was done. And when you finished it was all fun and games and you had a great story to joke about.

Well the next year a kid complained, having his parents call the athletic department. We had to stop the tradition because some boner was being a pussy. We weren't told who, but we know who it was. He quit anyways.

The point is, like your company, it is part of the team/company. It is their company, and they can uphold and do what they want. It was productive. And yet these little pricks think they are too cool for being part of a team/company. Yea maybe not everything is awesome or fun or something you want to do, but you do it anyways. You are an employee, not a CEO, manager, etc. Everyone else does it.

It frustrates me to no end hearing and seeing all of these kids. Bunch of entitled, disgraceful children

I just realized that Utopias might literally be impossible.

1. Great civilizations with high economic wealth
2. Children of these citizens do not have to work hard
3. No hard workers to replace outgoing hard working generation
4. Perpetual boom and bust cycle

Only people like that @ my school are the liberal arts kids. The STEM majors aren't very SJW like, and literally work their asses off.

Brb, majority of the ones I've talked to are still virgins, couldn't give a **** about politics, are super competitive/cutthroat, and have only gone to 1 party in college so far. So I'm genuinely shocked that this is coming from an engineering intern.

I just wonder how these people are going to cope when they face actual hardship. Like a war, economic depression like the 1930s, or personal loss - injury, cancer, etc.

At my uni, there are the sjw ******* engineering majors who think they're gods gift and then you have hard-working normal white guys just looking for a good job after graduating. It is about a 50/50 split.
