No, don't switch if your goal is to improve your bench. Focus on your barbell bench, use DBs for accessory work
Seriously, why are you recommending an advanced peaking program for a beginner lifter?

Edit: I actually did it once before I had moved to Texas method and it totally helped me. Everyone's mileage may vary.

The older I get the less I care about PRs. OP though if I could only bench 1 time my body weight I would keep going. Don't let this one experience be shame. While I have never had this happen to me I have rolled right off the bench with 100 lbs dumbells. I have collapsed from pulling so much weight. **** happens man. If you wanna get bigger it requires pushing your limits. I have been plagued with various injuries so my outlook for myself has changed.
6'5
245 on 2/28/17
238 on 4/11/17
229 on 5/18/17
231(came back from my Honeymoon so I gained a little) on 6/9/17
My goal weight is 220 I think we will see

I seriously wonder about some of you weirdos
ASK someone to spot you. You don't have to know someone to ask them to spot you in a gym, it's a god damn gym.
Same type of dudes to circle around a piece of equipment for 30 minutes when you can just ask to work in

OP, eat more and when you are done, eat some more. And start drinking milk like it's going to get you more 'poon than Moby Dick.

Just roll it down your body, sit up, roll it onto the bench seat, then pick it up and put it back up. I do it all the time. It's not a big deal.
