the nearby university. I think it is retarded to make those tenants go through the side door.

From a business standpoint, the company is taking the deal because they find it financially
advantageous. They are not forced. What they re doing is probably illegal on grounds of
discrimination.

The terms of the rat race here are unlike anything else other than places like Monte Carlo, and it's the reason nearly half the city proper leaves after spending their 20s-40s here. It's incredibly easy to discern the levels between old money, dirty rich, wealthy, upper middle class. Old money can't "dress down" because they don't own clothing to facilitate it...and it's definitely not the accessories. They may forgo familiar logos and favor comfortable shoes, but in terms of material, seams and tailoring, it's obvious. There's no such thing as "relaxing" your reputation or looking innocuous, when someone from the same social echelon knows how to appraise you by the way you sit or your rings, cuffs and the laxity/tightness of your shirt and pants in specific areas. Only SAs/the general public look to obvious indicators of wealth or a lack of it. Why do LA/NYC nouveau riche buy flashy cars/jewelry/handbags and pairing it with obnoxious outfits or slummy clothing? Because they grew up consuming media where celebrities and prominent media figures dress this way. You're crazy if you think dressing like the Roosevelts or Rothschild is common knowledge.

I don't doubt you had a more privileged upbringing than most. But the fact you had any close friends outside independent schools/treat SAs and luxury forums as a reliable point of reference to gauge wealth indicates you've never been exposed to NYC high society. Maybe new money who are surgeons/lawyers/entrepeneurs, but not old. No blue-blood Manhattanite knows anyone who would garden in crocs on a estate they barely spend time in, I'm just saying. And they can instantly pinpoint when you're a non-resident of their building when everyone else - including SAs - are unable to tell the difference.

The luxury apartment should not be offering tax breaks. There is odd idea that people in said income bracketwantto live in luxury apartments...most of them dont or dont really have the choice. This is where the gentrification argument stems from anyway.

Once again, miscs stance on this seems to be unusually vindictive but that seems to be the role they have been told to play by society. Resent those lower down the proverbial ladder than you because they deserve to be in their situation. In another thread they will be complaining about being undercut by those with H1B Visa's because they dont "deserve" to live in American and jobs should be earmarked for Americans...why? Does being an American mean youdeservea job?? Its funny how entitled people are the first to complain about other people's entitlement.

If you want to walk through the fron door like everyone else, don't rely on someone to help pay your living expenses.
