UA messed up the flight packing. 4 People need to get off. UA asked for volunteers. 3 out of the 4 offered to get off for the compensation and get on a different flight 3 hours later. No one else volunteered so UA randomly chose someone and the doctor was it.
The doctor was the one that didn't want to get off, since he has patients to meet the next day.
Security was called to get him off the plane. They started to grab him and escort him off and he started sqreeching and was being resistant of getting taking. The officers were then being forceful in their demands in response to his forcefulness. The doctor goes limp and is drug off the plane.
Yes. This is a crappy situation. But common. Be an adult. Get up and walk out with a sore loser face on. Sue them or whatever afterwards. Don't resist and be conscious as you are escorted out..

How is it my fault that I pay for a service to only then be treated like cattle? He's a god dam human being and was treated like a cattle that wasn't meant to go on this shipment.
Are you even human? Do you even have ethics?

It's worth mentioning that hotels do this same overbooking chit and they call it 'bouncing' a passenger if too many people turn up they just send them to another hotel somewhere else, if the nearest one is 20 miles away then so be it
Imagine that, you book flights and hotels, you travel thousands of miles with bags and children, you arrive tired af in the middle of the night after 10 hours travelling, get to the hotel hoping to get into the room that you paid for and they say "nope we're full, fuk off" and refund your money
The practice should be outlawed srs, maybe it will be if this fat kunt gets a couple million and people decide to copy it

All they had to do was raise the incentive to get off the plane and someone would have bit. Bunch of idiots working there and making security force the guy off.
This guy just won the lotto, he gonna get paid for this.

So what type of payday is this guy getting? At least 5 figures. 6 figures? Airline will say airport security at fault (which they were) but airline literally has to try to counter the PR hit by giving him money. Although you set a terrible precedent if you go overboard. Will have endless unruly passengers trying to get paid.

He wasn't going to miss his fake appointments the next morning, he was leaving in 3 hrs. Had they not used the computer to randomly choose who has to get off they would have been accused of racism, homophobia, etc. Keeping your seat on a plane is not a constitutional right, it's a privilege. Perhaps some of you *******s should read what you agree to when buying an airline ticket. It specifically states they can kick you off the flight for literally any reason.
brb. Agree to the rules when buying ticket...
brb. Don't like it when the rules actually apply to me...

However It should be the price of the ticket + $200/300 extra for inconvenience.
Now if $800 did cover the ticket and the $200/300 extra then $800 would be a reasonable price
- Also the article said 2 other people were told to get off and they went willingly. This guy was just not having it.
This isn't the 1st airline fawk up and it's not going to be the last. Airlines will continue to act this way because, well they can. They are the only with the planes so you have no other choice but to put up with it.

mind = blown that people can see a video of an old man literally getting KTFO and then dragged out and their first reaction is to defend UNITED ARILINES. in other vids you can see the blood in his mouth.
btw, the NORMAL thing to do would've been to either increase compensation until there are volunteers, or have the employees go on another flight/bus, or any number of other options that DON'T INVOLVE PHYSICALLY ASSAULTING YOUR OWN PAYING CUSTOMERS.
PS love all the overnight experts on contract law.

United could have simply upped their offer. instead, they'll get dragged through a multi-million dollar law suit and pay more money PR and SEO to hide the incident

- It most likely had to do with the inconvenience of having to get off the plane when they were already seated and ready to go
- And at the root of it all this is like missing your flight, but you are volunteer to do it, which that's the last thing someone wants to do.
- I wouldn't volunteer to get off even if they offered me $5k.

Cannot even believe the boot lickers ITT defending the airline, it was disgusting how the Marshall's/armed security ripped the old, out of shape, non violent man out of his seat because he didn't want to abandon a service he paid hundreds for..

The doctor goes limp and isdrugoff the plane.
Yes. This is a crappy situation. But common. Be an adult. Get up and walk out with a sore loser face on. Sue them or whatever afterwards. Don't resist and be conscious as you are escorted out.
Now. Where am I wrong here? The only thing I can see being wrong is how theydrughim out and he hit his head on a cushioned item.
But we all know this game. When marshals tell you to get up. You get up. If you physical resist, expect physical demands after that point. Him hitting his head is a result of his physical resistance.
They should have just did their job right and not screw up the schedule and sitting.
I'm not going to say everybody did their jobs correctly here. Because they didn't.
But what did you guys want to happen? The sky marshals demands get defied and they go "Well. The doctor said he won't get off." "Who do we force off now?" and walk off?
The obvious answer would be. Don't let anybody get off. Since this flight was delayed for 2 hours after the debacle. The UA workers were delayed and probably didn't make their crossover as intended. Which UA worked around this situation to make accommodations. Something they should have done initially to avoid making people get off.
Or have 3 fly and find a local 1 to make up for the doctor saying he couldn't get off.
