There are companies that sell bumper to bumper warranties with road side service. It is possible I can pay 100 bucks a month and never use this, but even one blown tire would make it worth it.

Yup, water and electric hook ups in addition to the fact the lot owner is there to make a profit. Usually around 200 to 400 a month.

Probably just going to stay with the pattern it has.

Semi-jelly. You should consider starting an instagram, youtube, and written blog to document your travels and make some gas cash, also take up photography if you have a spare few K to drop on a DSLR tripod and a couple lenses. Good luck opie

I have a Nikon D3200 and 7200. This is probably the most blogging I will do about it.

For sure maintenance is a huge concern of mine. As it is any traditional home owners. I joined some rv forums so I am having some great conversations in that area.

Well, what I should say is make sure you're saving and investing hard while you're doing this otherwise it's not THAT great, but if you do that's awesome. If you found a work from home job and got satellite wifi and traveled the country for a year, that would be sick.
Saving money is the primary motivation to this

One question though, are you not looking to start a family? I imagine it would be hard to do since theres limited expansion capabilities of those rv's.

My family had an rv for one summer as a kid, one of the most memorable summers of my childhood!
I'm not starting a family. I got snipped already

Pretty cushy and a lot of space for a single guy. In the old days guys just plopped a camper on top of a pickup and was good to go. Nowadays, you get all of the comforts of home (literally). How times have changed.

My biggest fear with that would be having to slam the brakes... and deal with all my stuff flying around in the back.

'Mirin the lifestyle though, thought about it myself but bought a house. When I retire though I would like to get something like that and just travel on a whim to wherever I want.

I would chit in the bathroom. Seems like the best place to do it.

Talking to one of my buddies, I would have to open the tank every second week or so.

The tanks for the shower and sinks can stay open when hooked up.

I had an idea....
You should get a black card membership to Planet Fitness, srs. It's only $20 a month.
You could shower/shyt/workout there and also have 2 free meals a month. You can go to any planet fitness you want too.

OP sorry if this has been answered but if you're so against driving it, why not get a truck and haul a cheaper, non-driving one since it seems like you won't be driving it anyways?
Not sure what vehicle you're going to haul with the RV, but I'm sure you could trade it for a truck.

Jealous of the RV tho, too clean

you going to winter in Slab City?
I keep my camper setup year round at a campsite for $1500/year. Though if I lived there year round they would install a meter.

Can't remember the name of the place but I know there's a network of campgrounds that let you stay there for free as long as you put in two days of work there. Only thing is it's a Christian based network. Coast to Coast exists also.

Don't think I'd ever be able to handle driving one of those things. Sometimes I see people struggle for an hour to get their RV situated in some of the lots and they end up pulling out and circling the campground a few times.

Good point. Less maintenance on a 5th wheel camper and you can always trade trucks if the initial one has probs. I think OP already pulled the trigger though. Pulling a trailer is not as easy as driving something like a bus. The trailer shakes you around like a tail wagging a dog. Pulling my boat back from the lake in my SUV after a day in the sun is always like the worst end of the day.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

It actually makes sense if you want the freedom, which OP clearly is up for. Not sure what the square footage is on the RV but it is like a small 1 bedroom apartment. He would probably pay close to 1k a month for an apartment in some areas. Columbia SC would be close, Charlotte is over 1k for sure. And if he has crappy neighbors he can just stake out a new RV park until he hits the jackpot with the HBB neighbor or the granny with 2 granddaughters that love to sloot together.

Class A idea, honestly I would do this myself if not for these three points:

1. I'm 6'2" and claustrophobic af. I hate using bathrooms in other people's houses because they hang their mirror/cabinet over their sink wrong and either I can't get down far enough to wash my face without banging my head, or it's hung too low and I have to squat to look in the mirror and shave. Beds are a pain, cubical showers are a pain, baths are a pain, I'm always banging into furniture. To be happy I need open space in a house so that I can exist without bumping into something every second and stressing myself out.

2. This goes for cheap houses and hotels too, but when the price is low and the requirements to move in are low - the sorts of people it attracts are low income. Low income people have issues because they are poor, they have domestics all the time over money, they drink to cope, they take drugs to cope, they're loud, they're stressed out because they work too many hours for a lame paycheck and they have too many kids to support. A lot of them are on a low income in the first place because they're unemployable or mentally ill. They yell all the time, they don't have manners or consideration for others, they're rude and they're classless... Trailer parks in the US, caravan parks in the UK, gypsys, caravan rental holiday parks (butlins etc), council estates, the whole town of Blackpool if you know it... not for me, can't be doing with those types of people. The alternative is to buy one then somehow overcome the associations with those people, and go it alone but then you're without good access to amenities and you're lonely and without community. If you go it alone you don't fit in with settled people, and you don't fit in with trailerpark people.

3. The associations with those people are hard to break, because they're often true. Nobody sits in a 250sq foot RV because they want to. Nobody sleeps in an RV who if offered would not straight swap it for a nice house in a nice area if they could. They would do it in a heartbeat... if you say you want to travel you'd much rather stay in nice hotels if you're honest with yourself... only reason you aren't is cos you lack the cash. It's a sign something has gone wrong in your life, people pick up on that. It ruins opportunities, it ruins connections with people privately and professionally. It limits you, it's a cycle too - you don't get those contacts which makes things worse which limits connections further. A van by the river or a canal boat is a single step above homelessness.

This is awesome OP, good luck in your travels/new living arrangement.

Didnt you have a house with lots of christmas decorations? Should decorate your RV with it come winter time!

Also its refreshing seeing your take on life and this act of non-conformism which seems to be a part of you so to speak. All these young cats only have pussy on their mind maybe it changes with age? Im feeling like thats not the primary focus of my life the older I get, like the focus changes.

Thats my rant.....good luck OP!

I have abou 25K saved up, adding about 1.5K a month to savings. Before this purchase, less than 1K in debt.

I have a steady income of ~85k/year. I am about to promote and will be steady ~105K/year.

I am 31.

I really enjoy my socially deviant/counter culture perspective. Keeping in mind this perspective in no way makes me dangerous to society or a threat to any individual. I just don't share the same ideas that most people do.

As far as the christmas decorations go, my neighbor asked me about that lol. I will be keeping them and decorating my 'lot'/rv. Threads will be posted. it will be glorious.

Cool to vacation in, but I don't think I could use it for a permanent residence.
