We specifically went G42 .380 with my wife since the .380 recoil is much better for her to manage with self defense rounds vs 9mm.

Shot placement, follow up shots, and being comfortable with the weapon were more important than the 9mm ballistic advantage for our decision.

As many have stated all pistol rounds are poverty for "stopping power" anyway lol.

by that logic we should all carry .22s then for quick follow up shots

obviously i don't want to get shot, regardless the caliber.

personally after shooting both the G42+G43 i could hardly notice any difference in recoil at all. your milage may vary.

Yeah that's why .22lr is the best caliber...

I'm not good at trolling. I just like using that shiit argument "well then why don't you let me shoot you with it?" because people take me serious every time and every time it makes me chuckle.

Very doable. I've started with 22LR and have built quite the tolerance. I've worked my way up to 357 sig actually. .40 SW is my limit though. the mystical 'kick down' power of the .40 SW cartridge is just too much for any mere mortal.

.380 auto is plenty for a self defense round, especially considering the factors hutch mentioned, but i personally am turned off by it because its smaller than 9mm and more expensive. it just seems unnecessary when i could go with 9mm

Agree

My wife is 5'1" and all of 110 lbs....the smaller frame size of a 380 is also a big advantage in helping a woman that size be comfortable with the gun.

She's shot my XDS before but says it just doesn't fit her hand well.

Anyone have any experiences with the Ruger AR 556? Looking for a relatively cheap entry into Rifles after only owning handguns. Needs to be MD compliant unfortunately.

Hobby-quality rifle. Gas blocks coming loose, proprietary delta ring, issues with the bolt getting stuck a lot, is not master-race midlength. You're going to do better buying receivers and a heavy-profile barrel and putting it together yourself. Such are the consequences of living in a slave state.

To be fair there is a lot of data showing that 380 can be ineffective. I was listening to a Primary and Secondary Podcast with Roland and they had this Dr as a guest. He's the leading wound doctor for the U.S. Government and all he does is study ballistics and wounds and advises the government.

He said he's seen 380 bounce off people's heads on more than 1 occasion. i still have no problem carrying my 42 when I do.

He can't have any of those, because apparently an AR-15 with a heavy barrel is less dangerous than an AR-15 with a government or pencil barrel.

Yes. Tons of info on snipershide. The top level scope is supposed to be legit, and it's only about $1500. I've never had a hand on one though.
