Yeah, from the sounds of it you won't be able to get a gen 2 Viper until late this year, if not later.

Well what role is the rifle going to fill? Pretty big difference between an ACOG and a 14+x scope.
It's a big difference, but I think she was just in the mindset of buying an ACOG.

I'm going to go with the Burris from Optics Planet. The mil discount through Burris isn't much cheaper, and they don't have rings available. Just going to get them together from OP.

May I make a suggestion?

If looking to stay near that price, do the Seekins rings (Optics Planet carries them). They are machined in serialized pairs to match, have an integral lug, and are aluminum. The Burris rings are steel, and you would typically want to mate steel rings and a steel scope base together. The RPR is aluminum, so aluminum rings should be used. Burris isn't known for their rings anyway. The seekins are even a little cheaper.
