Guy got a job in a IT company I was working at during the summer. Came in on his first day stinking of booze and people commented. Second day he went out for lunch with some people from the office, got so drunk he fell over a wall into someone's front garden on the way back then behaved aggressively to some people in the office. The following day he gets called in because of it and some women were saying they were scared of him. He actually didn't get let go straight away, I think they offered some emploe support chit and gave him some time to get his act together which 99.9% chance never worked out.

My grandfather was always lulzy when I was a kid but as I grew up I realise it was just because he was hammered all the timeBasically drank himself to death.

childhood best friend's dad and my aunts boyfriend. both died in their 40s of liver failure. the friends dad i didnt see much. the aunts boyfriend i dont think i ever saw him fully sober. He had a giant ass stomach but his limbs were all skinny and chit. I think his liver was enlarged and his stomach was all bloated and chit.

Yes, when I stopped for two weeks in November of last year I had a bunch of gastro problems, I was on the toilet probably every hour on the hour. My lungs were filled with fluid so I barely slept anyway. After a few months of sobriety I was sleeping like a little baby. Slept extra to have dreams because I honestly either don't remember my dreams or never went into REM as I had sleep apnea and the fluid. I had a cough that wouldn't go away for like two years. Damn I was miserable in all aspects of life. Now I'm happier in all ways.

How do you guys who have had alcoholics in your family manage to drink alcohol? ID be afraid of becoming an alcoholic myself. Thankfully my family has no alcoholics

One of my best friends dad growing up when I lived in VA. I was about 10-13 yrs old at the time...at first everything seemed normal I thought he just liked to drink on the weekends. Then slowly I started realizing he would always reek like liquor every time I'd go to my friend's house. My mom would always be wary when I would ask if I could spend the night at my friends house..She would never let me.

Then it all started making sense...I remember one day in the summer I was about 12 all my friends were out town on vacation. I was sitting there on my front porch bored just chilling, and it was only like 6pm, and there was my best friends dad literally crawling on the sidewalk to his house. He could barely walk up the steps, and tried to open the door to his house, but fell into the bushes in his yard. I didn't know wtf to do...but thought damn this is serious.

I shrugged it off, and thought maybe he was just wasted that one day. However, another time I was at my friends house he was playing golden eye with us, and his hands were trembling so bad he could barely hold the controller. The crazy thing is I never saw him actually drink..He hid it well from others. Made me thing though he used to drive my friend and I to soccer practice all the time I wonder if he was drunk. He also had a good job, and never got fired...Super high functioning alcoholic.

Anyways, I ended up moving from VA, and lost touch with my friend for some time. I got back in touch with him about 3 yrs ago...Said his dad passed away from cancer. Sucks, his dad was a nice dude don't think he was violent or anything since he had a wife, and his son was a cool kid. Never saw any signs of abuse or anything, but you never know what happens behind closed doors..Probably why my mom never wanted me to spend the night there.
