SA blood bank come to my work 4 times a year, it makes it really easy to fit in on the donor schedule. Today was a donation day (O-), I train during my lunch break and typically donate immediately after. It is brutal to lose a pint minutes after a leg day workout
Well done to all contributors - the life you save is unlikely to ever be mine, but the more of us in the donation pool the better for everyone

Went in earlier today and did a power red donation. They take twice as many red blood cells but use a machine to return back your plasma and some saline. Never doing that crap again LOL. For some reason, when the machine would return back the plasma and saline into me, I would get lightheaded and dizzy. I managed to get through both cycles to get the full two units taken out of me, but had to sit it out for an hour before feeling back somewhat normal. I'm going to stick with just having them taking one unit at a time and not injecting anything back from here on out.

Bump bump bump.
Summer is coming which typically brings an uptick in trauma accidents. Please be safe driving, watch for motorcycles, and don't text/drive. It sounds basic but every year thousands of families are ruined by (potentially) avoidable motor vehicle and motorcycle crashes.
And of course, go donate some blood for those poor folks that end up in the hospital after getting hit by a semi or wrapping around a tree.

Not expecting 34 reps... probably still on spread with everyone from ST Jude anyway, but y'all should donate often... if ya have a good center it doesn't take long, and always fun and friendly to talk to regulars and the staff.
Have been going twice a week for the last 15 months, barring times ill / out of town...

O negative crew checking in. Donated plasma once and had the worst experience ever. One of the needles stopped half way through the process and I sat in a chair with a needle in my arm for 3 hours. I still donate blood every now and then.

I wish they told people to hydrate more pre-donation though. It makes the whole process much easier and very few people know that.

Good luck everyone and keep donating.

Just made my 8th donation this Friday, making my grand total donation of a whole gallon
Spoiler!
This weekend apparently they were giving away red cross aluminium bottles which was cool, unfortunately they are not insulated so heat/coldness just goes through it incredibly quickly lol.
Spoiler!
Happy donating all!

Sadly I won't be donating for the next 12 months because I had an accidental needle stick at work from an agitated patient who was also HIV+. Lab work and medications for the next four weeks and then multiple followup labs. FML.
