You're surrounded by substance abusers and gratuitous cursing and sexual harassment. Men will tell you they don't want you in the kitchen, go to front of house. I've staged, crushed service, and the sous tried convincing me to go front of house while the exec told him to fuk off, which was nice, until this self-professed Champion of Women said he'd only hire me to work pastry. This happens in the chittiest Awful Houses to Michelin Star restaurants.

I'd rather enjoy my job with $$$ where I'm respected and valued rather than attempt to heroically change the opinions of a bunch of moronic addicts who couldn't even get their GED and somehow still look down on me. I cook what I want, when I want.

In other words, we can factually state that there are only 69 certified master chefs in the country and one is a woman, but why? It's not because we aren't talented, excellent chefs.
Regarding your first point, about poor work-life balance. I work as a cook in a pub, and my boss works long hours, and my colleague come in early unpaid (which I refuse to do). I can only imagine what it's like in genuine restaurants. IME women tend to value work-life balance more than men, and won't work themselves into an early grave for money and/or status.

Regarding the second point... I think miscers think that the notion of misogynistic work environments is a feminist myth.

I don't like the direction that 3rd wave feminism has gone, but IMO they do (at times) raise genuine problems in society regarding attitudes towards women. (This misc is a prime example, tbh.).

Completely. I have not one complaint regarding where I work now. I am supported, valued, and treated equally to my male colleagues.

It's also true that I've worked at places where it was an actual spoken rule to not hire women who did not yet have children (the assumption being that if they did choose to start a family, they'd go on maternity leave or cause turnover) or women who had children but they were not yet self-sufficient, like high school age. Notably, this was also at a restaurant chain. Places of work that outright discriminate and hold terribly sexist attitudes towards women are real, and exist. Amazing workplaces who treat all people equally also exist. Both things can be true.

And this thread/the misc is a perfect example, you are right. What are women better at? Bitching. Complaining. Annoying me...With no objective analysis. Not actual, provable things like some women ITT have suggested. The irony blows my mind, but I don't think men are inherently bad at being objective, of course, nor would I ever make such a dramatic claim. But the cognitive dissonance makes me want to bash my head against the keyboard at times.

Edit: Yikes, yeah you should never work unpaid, good for you. Don't ever undervalue yourself, and that's also a great way to not be covered in the event you injure yourself at work off the clock. You work at one shady place.

You are right - I do believe women tend to value work/life balance more. What's interesting is I don't really care all that much. I genuinely enjoy long hours, and am incredibly passionate about what I do. But I'm not walking home at 2:30am, and people who eat Christmas dinner at restaurants are scum of the earth.

I think as a species you could fairly say that men are offense (procuring resources, dealing with physical threats), women are defense (childbirth, survival).

Agreed. Both have equal importance in the natural world and humans going against that natural existence is what's created the modern superiority complexes.

I think that's accurate, and fair.

If we examine the outliers, men are arguable the best at a lot of professions or heads of fields. However, on a 'grassroots' or average level, I think that women are probably better than men at a number of things (eg. Cooking).

This list isn't exhaustive, but I would say that women are noticeably better at; non-verbal communication, empathy, compassion, and nurturing.(When they consciously try to be.)

However, arguably the most famous people who have written or teach those topics have been men (eg. Marshall Rosenberg, Carl Rogers, etc). However, on a grassroots level I would say that (in practice) women are better at those things than men, and I think those values are severely undervalued in our society. (IMO even women in the west don't like those values, and increasingly prefer values based in confrontation).

I think that is because men (generally) are better at presenting information sequentially. Although I genuinely do respect the intelligence of a lot of women I've known, I've noticed that they aren't economical with their choice of words, they include a lot of context.

I agree with the various people over the years that I've come across, who have said that; men generally are pre-disposed to be better at logical and reductionist thinking, whereas women pre-disposed to be better are systems thinking and non-verbal 'thinking'.

(IME and IMO when it comes to spirituality and religion. Without feminine and female influence, it becomes reduced to a very cerebral and intellectual thing. People sitting around analyzing and comparing concepts and abstractions, rather than connecting and embodying... Which I've noticed that females tend to be more inclined to, and stay away from the more abstract philosophical and theological debates.)

PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.
GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.
GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

Women are not better at fashion, most of the top fashion designers are men. Women just like/care about fashion more.

Only thing women are objectively better at are birthing babies, and nurturing babies. Everything else men are better at on average.

Women can't survive without men. Women completely depend on men for their very survival. If all the men were wiped out tomorrow, all the women would die of starvation in a few weeks. If all the women were wiped out tomorrow, men would live the rest of their natural lives.

Obviously the long term survival of the species requires both genders, since I know you're gonna say something about that.

LMAO! Women can only survive if there are men around. Have you watched the episode of bear grylls, when women get put on their own island? fukin LOL

I'm not a misogynist/sexist but men are better than women at everything! If you think differently you're lying. Women are literally on this planet to rear our offspring whilst men move mankind forward...like I said, I;m not a misogynist or sexist...….srs
