Just lol at some of the picks in here. I get the feeling like most of you have seen all the generic hollywood movies and none of the straight to DVD and truly terrible stuff. Reminds me of people that can't appreciate something more artsy like a play for what it is... and then cheaply saying its lame/boring.

Inception was good because it was unique and interesting.
Shawshank Redemption is probably the most rewatched movie in history.
Avatar was something you needed to see in the theater to truly appreciate.
Interstellar was another one that was many times more enjoyable if you actually saw it on 70mm IMAX (what it was filmed in). You also have to give Nolan props for even attempting to convey something so complex.

All of those are quality movies and deserve applaud. Now go watch something like "In The Name Of The King" with Jason Statham if you want to see some really terrible stuff. Sure... some people might find Fight Club boring but it is still objectively a quality movie.

Saying something is overrated doesn't mean that we think it's a bad film, we just don't think it's as good as it's generally praised.

I'll also addScarfaceto my list.

Titanic is the quintessential overrated film. All the awards and hype mask a fairly weak, corny love story with nice period trappings that almost distract from the poor drama.

1. Requiem for a Dream - misc creamed their jeans over this movie. When I saw it I was like "that's it?"

The only good part are the double head lezzy scene

2. The Dark Knight - The reviews for Ledger's performance was so overhyped by the pedestal he was put on as a legend after he died.
