70 years ago has derailed into 'medieval' but here goes;

brb no/limited sanitation
brb no antibiotics
brb no reliable anaethesia or pain relief
brb extremely limited civil/human rights
brb boring, repetitive food - also unsafe (poisoning from off meat v common in medieval london)
brb back breaking manual work (as late as 18th France an observer said a peasant woman he thought was in her 70's turned out to be about 40).
brb disease rampant
brb taxes, exploitation
brb took weeks to get anywhere
brb no safe housing - regular fires
brb had to practice religion and give money to church whether wanted to or not
brb lord wanted your woman, he took her and gave her back when bored with her (having prob'ly fathered a kid or two)

Back to 70 years ago .. so a handful of high level construction worker = entire male population?
Likewise conscripted soldiers who had no choice but to be there and were prob'ly chitting themselves reps the entire male population?
Simple minds need simple answers.

The reality is that guys like Cuckulus who don't have what it takes to thrive in todays society tend to romanticize the past under the false assumption that it would level the playing field for them.

If you were thriving in the medieval times, you were probably just surviving.. unless you were part of the royal family, or you were a famous knight, jezebel or guardsman.

Which really raises the question --- what do you consider thriving in times like this?

Real question. How much do you think the advent of laws shape behavior?

Are there more or less laws than there used to be?

The greatest generation. They call them that for a reason. Lived through the depression staright into WW2. I have mad respect for those people. Sad to see many of them getting old, but most of them made it in life, even though they had it rough.

You people get your idea of what life was like long ago from movies?

I can list off a whole bunch of horrible things about living TODAY as well. The big difference is that people lived better than we do today, maybe not always materially, but **** yeah when it comes to principles, honor, respect and productivity. The idea that everyone was always living in some cold, broken down shack eating raw meat and getting murdered randomly isn’t true. Advanced civilizations have been around thousands of years ago, some more advanced than our current civilization.

Serious question. Why are Americans so insecure about their manhood and feel the need to be portrayed as some tough wild west vigilante? I can only assume it's brainwashing from Hollywood movies and blind patriotism. It wreaks of insecurity needing to seek validation from strangers in order to inflate the ego. It's probably just this forum.

This is freaking stupid you're comparing the toughest/bravest men of society to the weakest men of society today. We still have navy seals and a lot of people who voluntarily join the army without ever being forced to. We still have people who work brutal manual labor jobs and work long hours (my best friend does). Funny because so many people on here made fun of tradies/people who do physical work as a job then complain society is getting to feminine at the same time. Tradies LITERALLY built this country. We have millions instaneous fast deliveries which means someome in warehouse and trucks/vans is busting their azz to get them to you. Trust me I did both. At amazon they literally freaking time you inside the warehouse so people are hauling azz. Just LOL if you don't think there's modern day peasants who physically bust thier butts for minimum wage and our looked down and treated like dirt because they are easily replaceable. Also looked down upon society as low life scum instead of being looked as hard working men doing an honest days worth of work trying to feed a family.

Add on top technology is reducing crucial development in humans + destabilization of roles through progressive moments and we're getting mutant forms of devolving, soft humans. Humans are become way more sedentary, being exposed less to real competition, being exposed less to real face-to-face communication and even when they develop a disorder they then have society telling them they are fine and nothing is wrong with them. Just a breeding pot for a circus show. You'd have hoped we could have removed the brutality of the past such as dying if someone sneezes near you, while also keeping the positivities, but this hasn't happened.

I don't think the human body and mind can evolve to what we need now, I mean it's getting clearer every year. I think the only path from here on in is to fully integrate with technology because our biology on it's own can't balance the modern age properly.
I agree with your premise completely, but not your conclusion. We will likely have a collapse far before we go android.
