I think life would be better as a peasant 500-1500 years ago

- get your own farm to live on and grow your food and build your own little cob style house as long as you give the nobleman some of your food you grow
- have a defined role in society and when you see your family eating the food you grew/hunted yourself, you know your place in society and it brings you a certain type of satisfaction we don't have now
- virgin bride that loves you and raises your children. Accepts your role as the man in the family without resentment
- feasts every couple months where your family/community gets together and eats, drink wine, dance and have a good time
- religion still exists and you know 100% that when you die you will be spending eternity in paradise with god and those that you love
- cowards and degeneracy was not tolerated. If you steal you get your hand chopped off etc
- men were allowed to be men. If someone causes harm to your honor you are expected to beat/kill them

You know what was the best feeling in the world. 2000 years ago when you stand in a row with 4000 other soldiers facing the enemy horde. You have a sowrd in your hand and a shield. You scream like a mother****er when your general rides his horse in front of you and then you hear the trumpets and you just start running torwards the enemy. You want glory and you want to smash brains and at the end of the day you want to take everying valuable from the enemy including taking some slaves to take home. If you were a soldier in the army of the gloryfull Ceasar you had the opportunity to become a made man. And veterans back then had it way better then today. A roman soldier had the right to get his own land after duty.

Every time I post an opinion or something to add to the conversation it turns into people trying to argue with me and telling me why my opinion is wrong. Everybody thinks they are somehow given the power of final arbiter of the truth by god himself. I've had about enough with you people. Yes I believe life would be better for men in 1500 compared to 2018. I listed the reasons above. Yes I understand life wasn't as "comfortable" back then. The other aspects of life that we don't experience today are what makes it overall better. If you disagree that's fine.
