Somewhat true among humans as well. Misc focuses on how beta it is to take care of another man's kid, but what's even worse is that stepfathers are far more likely to be abusive than biological fathers (and yes, before someone inevitably brings it up, there are exceptions). Considering that single mothers usually become single mothers in the first place because of their poor choice in men, the likelihood of them picking a decent father figure the second time around is pretty fuking low.

I have an aunt who ended up becoming a single mother because her husband died in a car crash a long time ago, and she never married again because she didn't want some dickhead around her kids who would likely never love them like he would his own. She did a pretty good job on her own though and the kids turned out really well.
