Explanation: people are consuming more calories with calorie dense junk food. Agree, processed junk is crap. But a fuking post workout baked potato or bowl of rice isn't evil. FFS

I never once said baked potatoes or rice were evil or bad. In fact, just above I advocatedsomelifters to go out of their way and eat far worse than that, even processed grains. Fuk, right now my pre-workout meal is a high carb, high protein meal which has sweet potato and brown rice, between 100-120g total.

Anyway, to your explanation: People are eating more, because of high calorie junk food.

Ok, then looking at the obesity level... why are there spikes in it? Why was it that when the Food Pyramid was pushed on society that obesity levels immediately skyrocketed? Do you think most people can shoved 6-11 servings of carbs daily and so long as the calories were the same, would gain no more weight than someone eating steak, eggs and green leafy veggies? Come on.

Wrong. It is all about calories the human body cannot create or destroy energy because of your magic macro split

Dude I didn't read the entire 5 page thread. What said was bull****:

"Eat as much steak and eggs as you want in an 8 hr period and you won't get fat. "

I stand by that assertion.

Three 12 Oz servings of ny strip with 3 eggs easily puts me in a surplus. As much as I want is well over 4000 calories

Just my experience:

Keto only works for me if I am trying to get really really lean. When I go keto though, my performance drops immensely and cognitive tasks take a huge hit. I can only do it if I do not have school, heavy work projects, etc going on. I am not sure I will ever do it again because I have no reason to get that shredded. With the exception of maybe a vacation where I will be shirtless a lot, just for fun.

Keto is great but hard to maintain all year I found. When combined with IF you shed fat fairly quickly. Need to properly carb load though or else you feel like a zombie some days.

Thomas DeLauer's channel on youtube is a huge resource for Keto and he has very easy to follow and concise breakdowns on how IF+Keto work for your body.

It gets better the longer you do it. The initial 6 months your performance can take a hit. It has been shown to improve cognition though as well.

keto is simply a tool to make cutting EASIER. Which is needed cuz most peopelo are:

1) carb addicted
2) high setpoint
3) insulin resistant.
4) hate/suck at counting calories.
5) suffer grealty from metabolic adaption cuz they've been obese for DECADES

but if u are already eating healthy and have just a few lbs - it still comes down to calorie deficit.

btw: low carb is preferabble to keto. keto is hard for most.

dr fung on youtube.
Weight Loss: Go carnivore or keto/low carb. Create calorie deficit. Buy packaged healthy meals if needed. Meat is good and heals, stop being lied to.

So TLDNR is;

Surplus calories over a period of time will make you gain fat
Calorie deficit over a period of time will cause fat loss.
Eating around maintenance = maintains weight.

But food quality has a significant impact on how your physique will look.

E.g. someone at 10-12% bodyfat who eats bread, pasta, pizza, donuts etc will look worse than someone who eats the same amount of calories, but with better macronutrient breakdown (vegetables, chicken, avocado, eggs, white fish etc)

Skin will be better, hair will be better, mental alertness / libido will be stronger, energy levels probably better (imo, when i binge on **** foods I feel groggy as fuk the next day).

THis isnt anything really new tho.

Eat clean foods and you will look better than someone who eats pure ****e aslong as calories are somewhat matched.

Man lands on moon.

This is why no 'fitness models' are like "Yeah Meal 1 is donuts, Meal 2 is pizza, Meal 3 is a protein shake, Meal 4 is Subway"

Its all "chicken, vegetables, brown rice, white fish, salmon" etc.

Speaking of bullchit, you linked a graph suggesting added sugars has skyrocketed downward in foods since 1998 (to 2014).

Riiiiight.

Anti-sugar journalist Gary Taubes recently kicked off a web debate concerning the role of sugar in the American epidemic of obesity and chronic disease. Taubes’ main thesis (which he propounds in books like Why We Get Fat) are that refined sugar has been a main driver of the obesity epidemic, if not its primary cause. In response to Taubes’ inaugural post, nutrition researcher Stephan Guyenet hit back with a concise refutation of Taubes’ point, using a graph of sugar consumption versus obesity to great effect.

There’s only one problem: The graph uses data that was altered by the USDA at the direct, documented behest of the sugar industry.
Btw, I am not super familiar with Taubes, although I do dislike sugar. I do follow Dr. Jason Fung, though.

Regardless, anyone who has their head out of their ass sure-as-chit knows sugar consumption isn't trending downwards. You posting fake news bullchit shouldn't come as a surprise. So, now that we've established your graphs were linked by a liar, what is your new explanation?

Sorry man, no you did not. I mistook your input here with a reply to the question I'd posed to you -- but it was someone else, not you, who made it (TonyNail linked a twitter post made by some sugar apologist).

Sorry for the mistake.

The graph in question was lying, showing the upward trend of obesity, which was truthful, but laughably suggesting sugar intake during that time period drastically went down, el-oh-fuking-el.

Did someone say this? lol I've been experimenting with keto the last year and have definitely gone overboard on things like cheese and nuts. It's actually quite easy to over eat on keto if you're a boredom eater like I am.

This is why most people fail on keto after the initial water loss. Keto friendly foods are typically much higher calorie. Small handful of nuts will run you 200 calories.......2 TBSP of peanutbutter ( keep in mind how small an actualy tbsp is) and thats another 200+.

If keto is hard and you constantly fail then youre a beta cuck ******* with not a shred of self determination. Easiest way to eat, I can always weed out *******s who ask me about doing steak and eggs only to see the limp dick phucks can the idea 2 days later. Interestingly enough 2 of them had wives that were running around on them. Go figure.

Yes caloric intake accounts for a lot.

Yes, the specific makeup of foods/macros has an impact on how your body processes it.

It’s not that complicated.
Wrong. It is all about calories the human body cannot create or destroy energy because of your magic macro split
[img]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DRLGMA9X4AIEJMt.jpg
Weight gain and loss does come down to calories in vs calories expended, but that misses an important point: the reasons people overeat. Low carb diets have the added benefit of helping to control your appetite. As someone who has always been naturally skinny, I go for carbs when I want to bulk. That's because carbs massively stimulate my appetite whereas high fat low carb diets tend to curb my appetite. I did Keto for a long time, and I never had success trying to gain weight on it. To gain weight I'd go for GOMAD, slam back huge amounts of pasta/potatoes/rice, etc etc. Bulking on meat and nuts never worked, I could never force myself to cram enough in

It's still not a long term solution to obesity because nobody is maintaining keto-style diets in the very long term. Life is too complicated. Maybe you can pull it off for a couple years and good luck beyond that,

The people who got good results eating clean foods generally are natural.
The people who got good results with IIFYM generally are hormone enhanced.

Is that an accurate theory for the divergence of opinions?

IIFYM doesn't mean eating like a retard. It means unlike the keto nerds, I can still eat a burger or tacos without "throwing me out of" IIFYM

IIFYM doesn't mean eating like a retard. It means unlike the keto nerds, I can still eat a burger or tacos without "throwing me out of" IIFYM
I feel like IIFYM suffers from the no true scotsman fallacy. Whenever IIFYM doesn't work, the person is said to not have been really doing IIFYM. In any event, I'm not here to argue with you, I'd actually like to hear more from you because you seem like you got good results without hormone enhancement. Could you go over the timeframe you went through? Bulk/cut cycles, or long recomp, weights by year, etc?
