You're making an assumption that isn't based on reality. There are ways to watch movies without paying anything (except my time). This entire line of discussion has become very juvenile, centered on red herrings and ad hominems.

I made my point that the movie has serious flaws. Most people who even liked the movie will admit it was heavy handed on the propaganda and had the same flaws I mentioned. It's a bad movie -- especially compared to other Marvel movies. If you disagree, whatever. I made my point.

Whether you are liberal or not is not the issue here. Nobody cares.

Movie is trash.

I agree that the movie has some cheesy "girl power" moments. This barely effected my overall opinion of the movie though cos I'm not some basement dweller crying about "muhh attack on white men".

Movie was decent, well worth the 10$ I spent on going to the cinema. Solid plot twist, good ending. I really enjoyed the "I don't need to prove chit to you" part, like I previously mentioned. Overall I'd give it a 7/10 as far as movies go.

You seemed to be extremely bothered with my political leaning like 1 page back. Keep digging though. You even tried calling some dude from the UK a "Democrat" lol.

Whatever, dude. You suck, and your opinion sucks. Not sure what else to say. The movie is terrible. The plot twist was engineered for political reasons. Have a nice life.

Also, who gives a fuk what some media pundit thinks the govt should do? I want the government to lower my tax rate, but that's never gonna happen no matter which platform I say it on.

Hahahaha yeah, Hillary Clinton herself went down to Marvel HQ and told them to put that twist in there cos it would benefit... Wait, who would that even benefit exactly?

You are the first person I've communicated with that has made that connection. Feel free to explain to me exactly how this works. They portray the aliens as refugees to do what exactly? Make you more sympathetic to actual people who are fleeing from war and oppression? You need a movie to do that? Wtf is wrong with you dude?

if you leave that movie not feeling like Sam Jackson didnt carry that movie you were super biased cause he was awesome in it. God honestly without him i cant see that movie being as successful as people are making it out to be. Weak lame villains, the story felt like a broken record and when it all finally connected it was quite anticlimactic. Stan Lee intro felt more memorable lol

It was as good as any marvel movie. Srs. Cringy parts were some song choices; nirvana and no doubt. The bits referencing feminism weren't much of a stretch at all - especially given the characters grew up in the 80s.

Thing is, marvel movies are just capped because of what they are. Just sort of dumb super hero movies.

As a hero Cpt. Marvel is definitely overpowered. That was the main part that didn't work but I'm sure it will balance out randomly when she fights thanos

She is part of the military. In the US, people in the military are called 'Heroes'.

She volunteers for a unknown but - she's told - a high risk mission.

She literally tries to kill herself to prevent the core from being taken into enemy hands, by blowing it up with her standing right next to it.

Like all female characters, she tended to be perfect and flawless from the get go because every female hero is a fuking god damn Mary Sue.

Captain America (My favourite Avenger) has no moral corruption in him. Even when he was weak and small, he still was heroic. No flaws or development in his character in Captain America 1... Have you complained about that?

The Vision, incredibly powerful from the start. Basically pops up and saves the day... Have you complained about that?

Point to where I called you a liberal in this thread. That was Wincel, genius.

Point to evidence that Wincel hates women. Disliking feminism and the far left agenda being pushed in films doesn't make someone a misogynist.

Wincel, you're complaining that the screenplay, regarding how they treated her amnesia, wasn't comparable to Memento.

I think you are expecting way too much from a marvel superhero film. I would advise you never to hope for a critically acclaimed screenplay, and oscar worthy acting.

When I go to watch a marvel movie, I hope for: A mildly entertaining plot, competent acting, likeable characters, and good special effects based action scenes.... Captain Marvel delivered for me.

I don't judge a Marvel superhero film, like I would a Christopher Nolan screenplay like Memento... Completely unrealistic expectations, IMO.

Furthermore...

Those saying she had no character development... Not true.

From the start of the movie, they set up her battle with her impulsive/instinctive human nature and the stoic nature of the Kree. Literally from the start of the film.

Over the course of the film she remembers her human side, and once she embraces her impulsive and instinctive temperament, that unlocks her full power.

Spoiler explains a bit more...

Spoiler!
It's revealed toward the end, that the chip on the back of her neck is to suppress her power.

In the training scene at the start, and on her first mission she displays a strong impulsive nature, but Jude Law's character tells her to stop.

In the training scene, it's already hinted that embracing her impulsive nature makes her more powerful. Like in the training scene when she gets pissed, and blast's Jude's character against the wall.

Her instinctive nature leads her to listen to the skrull, and take what they say seriously.

The key to her using her power, is using her instincts and emotions. We saw that in the first training scene, her power activates when she uses her emotions and instinct.

We see her battling her instinctive nature, to fully and unapologetically embracing it. That's character development.

Movie was great. Definitely in the better half of all Marvel movies released. Seeing how badly it has triggered a portion of the Internet makes me like it even more. Negative reactions I've seen are hilarious.

also lol'd at the pulp fiction reference
Oh Damn! I missed that reference.

They also had a reference to Terminator 2 (the "smile" Motorcycle scene), and Top Gun (when her and her best friend are walking to their planes).

I thought Samuel was great, he embraced the comedic role.

I thought that Brie was genuinely well casted for the role too.

I think they had good chemistry.

Captain Marvel as a character is quite boring - and simply exists so that Rogue (more interesting to me) has lore behind her power as an x-men.

The movie was decent - I thought it was better than Thor 2 or Iron Man 3 or perhaps on the same level - decent but forgettable.

Fortunately the main actress' comments leading up to the film had no influence on it. Movie to me was around 5.5 or 6/10 where a 1 is Starship Troopers 2 and a 10 is Amadeus.
