Incorrect. The fact that you are using it as an example means you recognize it is abnormal... and I'm pretty sure the 50+ year old with a 19 year old on their arm gets all kind of weird looks etc. It's very uncomfortable. But everyone involved in that situation is a consenting adult and there is an understanding of the exchange that is happening (money for youth)

Hmm, I may have misread it. The "nobody bats and eye" line may have made it sound like 50/19 year olds is normal.

It is a touchy subject. The challenge is that age of consent changes based on location, similar to how a 16 year old in other countries can consume alcohol but not in the USA. There has to be a line drawn somewhere (16/17/18 depending on where you are). The situation you described with a 17M and 22F is commonly (incorrectly so) ignored but would not be ignored were the roles reversed (see: this thread). Both are wrong, one is perceived as "more wrong" because of the deeply ingrained concepts of female purity/innocence contrasted against people high-fiving the 17M for landing a 22F.
