Bruh, I always post this when a thread like this comes up (and it comes up quite often)

I was 27 when I started dating my gf who was 20, only thing weird was she looked younger and couldn't go to places with alcohol lawl.

Now we're 32 and 25, doesn't feel as weird

She has the right to develop into an adult without someone molding her. There are far more options than being a drinker or a skank.

If you had an 18 yo little sister and a 30 year old man wanted to mold her would you be fine with it?

And it’s disingenuous to act like there aren’t intelligent, attractive, non skanky women with good morals over the age of 18 who would make excellent wives.

If you can’t find any of them I doubt you’re looking.

I’m not saying it’s always creepy but miscers are pretty much the definition of why people think it’s creepy.

I never said there weren’t skanky gold digging 18 year olds.

But your average 18 year old girl is naive and just figuring her life out. It’s totally natural people in her life would be protective and not want her with some old man.

And you’re right, she could say she’s not interested. And she usually won’t be, which is why it’s pretty rare for it to be an issue in the first place.

Creepy old men are complained about by plenty of young women despite misc think that it’s only bitter older women. For the reasons I outlined above, the attention can feel very unsettling.

All the good ones have been snapped up by 25-30.. 95% of what's left have a laundry list of issues. Who said anything about not letting them have fun?

Im all for 100% trust. Not trying to control someone's life completely. Just be a good influence when it matters.

There's lots of people out there looking to be bad influences regardless of age. How is it a red flag that I want to keep them from making retarded mistakes that could seriously affect their future?

You know a bit about me and I can assure you that even in elite schools kids start fooling around in their very early teens if not earlier these days. No, I don’t deny her ability to give legal consent but in some cases I would deny her ability to give informed consent, because she is naive. Now some 18 year olds are full blown whores already, or they have daddy issues, which is sad, but ce’st la vie.

You’re not her father. That’s what she has parents for, you’re supposed to be her partner.

Re not wanting an old woman—ok, but you’re 28, you could date 21-30. A woman who can legally drink, has a job, has developed mentally, has some idea of what she wants in life.

Seems like a 25 year old just out of grad school would work very well for you if you’re really looking for a wife. She’d be in a position to take that on.

If you want a high schooler over that there is likely another reason at play here.

Generally speaking an 18 year old will not be in a position to have an adult relationship.

But if you are honest with her, not manipulative, and she is 100% clear on the terms (whether it’s sex or dating) ultimately it is her choice.

Heh, and in the EU 16 year olds could participate in the recent MEP elections. So perhaps this is partly cultural, except for say the "predator" type you mention.

In grad school it was reasonably common for 18-19 year old girls to want to fukk 30 year old grad tutors. The "showing up at your apartment in an overcoat and lingerie" level of common.
