See one of the idiots I mentioned.
According to him vague bible accounts from 1000's of years ago exposed someone who he can't name.
You go ahead and keep thinking the bible exposed somebody like a good little Christian.
The bible is just a bunch of "hey, what's that going on over there?".

They attack the literalist/Creationist 'fire and brimestone Christianity', and the deductive 'proofs of God' - which IME are pretty easy to dismantle.
Atheists are normally - I've never actually seen an exception to this first hand, when speaking to an Atheist - not aware of the diversity within Christian Theology, and that their various criticisms regarding; New Testament manuscripts, The nature of Jesus - Christology, LGBT issues, Christian attitudes towards sex, The theory of evolution, etc, tend to have a variety of 'answers' if they actually looked into the discussions that Christian theologians have.
Most aimed their criticisms at one Christian perspective, and think that perspective they are aiming criticism at is 'the' perspective.
Not only that, very few have looked into the phenomenon of Veridical Near Death Experiences, which is people who are verified to have described medical procedures and identified the medical staff who carried them out, whilst being clinically dead.
There is arguably a logic based case - via abductive reasoning - providing plausibility for Christian theism - or simply Theism, but it requires personal research.
But IME - honestly, without being facetious - very few Atheists, I've known are willing to do the reading/research into Christian Theology or Near Death Experiences. Which is OK, if they didn't then simultaneously state that there are no good reasons for believing in Theism - just because you may not seriously attempt to find any, doesn't mean that they don't exist.

The book of Daniel is proof of God, as we have evidence that Daniel was written BEFORE many of the famous and lesser known historical events that Daniel prophesied about.
For example, foretelling the coming of Alexander the Great, various dozens of lesser known Kings and kingdoms, the exact year that Jesus Christ would enter into Jerusalem and be crucified...

I can offer some intersubjectively verifiable things to research.
1) Veridical Near Death Experiences.
2) The Historicity of Jesus.
3) The Reliability of the Gospels. (The Gospels =/= The Bible.)
All 3 combined, I think can a plausible case for belief in Christian Theism (though not necessarily a compelling case).

I mentioned Veridical Near Death Experiences, where it's verified that when clinically dead people e.g. they identified the medical procedures and medical staff that performed them. They aren't in a high number, but they exist.
Have you read the books;
The Self Does Not Die: Verified Paranormal Experiences from Near Death Experiences-It's a collection of Veridical Near Death Experiences.
Consciousness Beyond Life, The Science of the Near-Death Experience by Pim van Lommel- It's a book written by a cardiologist, who presents the model that 'it's hallucinations of a dying brain' and argues why that explanation can't account for a number of Near Death Experiences.
2. It doesn't in and of itself, that's why I specifically said all 3 combined, but the historicity of Jesus is directly related to the Gospels.3). The Gospels even contradict themselves lol...."reliable".
That doesn't invalidate the gospels. For example, Historians and Eye witnesses differ in their accounts, but that doesn't stop anyone from taking History seriously, nor does that mean that the eye witness accounts are inadmissable in court.I doubt you would seriously discount the idea that World War 2 happened, because there are various accounts of what took place, and why. But you seem to have an exception when it comes to the Gospels... You seen to claim that the differences between the gospels - that fact in and of itself - invalidates the gospels. When using that alone as evidence against taking the gospels seriously, would also mean that you don't take history as a field seriously.
If you are genuinely interested, here is a Homicide detective who went from an Atheist to a Christian after studying the Gospels, explaining why the differences between the Gospels actually made him take them more seriously...
The vid is short...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp-cn6rVFO8
The Homicide detective brah in the video, wrote this book;
Cold-Case Christianity: A Homicide Detective Investigates the Claims of the Gospels by J. Warner Wallace
Let's just call a bunch of texts probably written anonymously way after the events they supposedly describe...."reliable". Sigh. It's not worth it, you haven't exhibited signs of rationality much at all in previous discussions, so have at it with your beliefs (doesn't mean they are true whatsoever lol, but have at em).
What books have you read on the subject (I genuinely curious, because I've only began so I'm also interested in reading some skeptic books on the subject)?I'm aware of Bart Ehman - in case you list him, I have a book where he has a debate with a Christian New Testament scholar about the reliability of the Gospels.

Dude, you are wasting your time. As I said, you go believe whatever nonsense you like, I couldn't care less (some probably think comets are hair-like apparitions in the sky that influence earthly events related to humans...let them think it, doesn't mean it's true whatsoever). I called it too with the NDE- "b.b..but not all near death experiences are the same.". It's still subjective lol....and it's also extremely pseudoscientific, and does not pass the scrutiny of carefully controlled scientific experiment.
Discussions like this just aren't really worth the time. The original guy asked for definitive evidence for the Christian God, and all that was responded with was:
-NDE, which are certainly, certainly, not "definitive evidence"
-Essentially mere documents. Lol this isn't definitive evidence either, as texts do not by themselves constitute definitive evidence (just as a Star Wars novel in modern times is not scientific proof of the events described within)
The better answer would have been, "there is no definitive evidence, it is something you just have to take on faith."
again, nuff said. I'm giving too much credit to your posts by even responding to them- especially topics concerning NDEs etc.
Edit: this is in response to betas post. Calmwind snuck a post in

As for messianic prophecy- you can make the Bible say pretty much whatever you want, just like with all Bible code nonsense. But the bigger picture here: has it ever occurred to you all these messianic prophecies were fulfilled so well to a T in the New Testsment, simply because the NT writers knew the OT and wanted these prophecies to be fulfilled? Lol. I'm sure that's not even an option though......with your biased viewpoint.

I already explained why definitive evidence or proof is not a standard I can meet. Proof isn't even a standard that the scientific method can meet... And if you think I'm lying, it's because you haven't done any research into what the Philosophy of Science is.The better answer would have been, there is no definitive evidence, it is something you just have to take on faith.
Only math offers proof.
I offered the guy an alternative standard of evidence, which he is free to dismiss of course.
I also explained that all three of the things combined. They are interrelated, IMO. Jesus appears in Near Death Experiences, and a Near Death Experience involving Jesus is what actually motivated Dr Raymond Moody to begin investigating NDEs, which pioneered NDE research.
Then you jumped in...

say anything from JFK's death to 9/11 to the apocalypse, given whatever arbitrary "code" you want to give it. Strangely though, it's always after the event happens (in this case Jesus), do the Bible coders say "a-ha! I was right!". They obviously don't tend to be predictive. I realize you are unable to understand this though.

The experience itself is subjective. Joe random claims he saw Jesus as he was dying (and of course does not actually die- if he was actually dead, he wouldn't be brought back to life- so much for the afterlife being "seen").This is his subjective experience. I don't care if he is alone, or 1,000 trained medical doctors are observing him. Are those doctors seeing the Jesus apparition as well? Like I'm talking to a rock.
The fact is, NDE can more than be explained by biology, brain physiology etc. But probably a lot of it is bs without even having to resort to a biological explanation- from false memories, to simply making things up. Whatever the case, this is not testable science.
Sorry, no amount of underlining bolded words is going to make your laughable position more appealing.
Also: to the nothing being proven in science thing, I will sidestep this nonpoint entirely by just removing the word "definitive" from the last post. Your examples aren't even examples of "evidence".
And to answer your question, I partake in religious threads because I am actually interested in evaluating claims from a rational position, with adequate skepticism. I also enjoy discussing science (and what is not science), which typically comes up in these threads. I just don't have time to deal with responding to your posts lol.....interested in discussions more advanced than "b..b.but NDEs". Smh.
I'm giving entirely too much credit to your position regarding NDE even debating it (it's like debating flat earth- it gives the notion too much dignity even refuting it
- at least that I find more interesting than NDEs though.) So I'm done

Those with the most morality are the suckers who go to church every day, fill their heads with useless nonsense, and give all their money to the church.
Also not believing in the intent of the bible doesn't make a person Atheist, dummy.
Also learn how to read I didn't say the bible was written to control people.
I said the bible was re-written to control people.
Again, the bible was originally a book about war, which was revised to pacify it's subjects.
The bible today has nothing to do with the original bible.
Now it's a bunch of stories about how to not get in trouble with God, and how if you're rich you're going to hell.
That really explains how and why the most powerful people in the world are also the most amoral.
But who cares eventually we all die and they go to Hell while we all go to Heaven, right?

Christ taught forgiveness, love and understanding of all people. The books added later provided a lot of the fire and brimstone crap.
Also lol @ being a blue print for war. Turn the other cheek is definitely conducive to war right? You smoke too much.

I'm explained that about 4 times now..
You dismiss the reports of the afterlife if you want to, but how would you dismiss the confirmed accounts of people describing details of the correctly identified medical staff who carried out the emergency procedures when the person was clinically dead?
Before you give an answer, why not read some reports, before (I'm guessing) kneejerk dismissing them?
The fact is, NDE can more than be explained by biology, brain physiology etc. But probably a lot of it is bs without even having to resort to a biological explanation- from false memories, to simply making things up. Whatever the case, this is not testable science.
No, it's not testable, for reasons we've already established. No medical ethics board would allow a controlled experiments regarding Near Death Experiences- which is what you have asked for. They would not allow Drs to kill people, and then bring them back to life in a controlled experiment.
It simply will not be allowed to happen. So all we can do is examine the spontaneously occurring claimed cases.
Also: to the nothing being proven in science thing, I will sidestep this nonpoint entirely by just removing the word "definitive" from the last post. Your examples aren't even examples of "evidence".
You probably think that, because you haven't read any books or studies from researchers of NDEs, nor anything about the historicity of Jesus, and the reliability of the Gospels.Am I wrong?
And to answer your question, I partake in religious threads because I am actually interested in evaluating claims from a rational position, with adequate skepticism
How would you view a creationist, who doesn't read any books written by evolutionary biologists, explaining what evolution is and addressing the arguments of creationists?Would you believe them when they say they are seriously interested in evaluating the case for evolution?
A creationist will never get the same eloquent and systematic presentation of the theory of evolution from forum posters, just like you will never get the best of the case for God, from evaluating forum posters like me.
That's why I've been trying to encourage you to read books - I've been doing that in multiple threads on religion/God, whenever we cross paths-, but you don't seem to be interested in evaluating these things for yourself. Instead you seem spend most of your time ridiculing theists.
It will take personal research, to find the strongest case.
Personal research IME is the key to understanding anything, - no offence, I understand that the following is abrasively phrased - IME noone can rely on forum posters to spoonfeed you the most eloquent and systematic cases for anything.
If you want to see the best evidence for Near Death Experiences, why not pick several book written by the most respected researches in the field and read them?
Forum posts, can't replace books written by researchers - If you are a fast reader, you'll get through the following books in no time;
What Happens When We Die: A Ground-breaking Study into the Nature of Life and Death By Dr Sam Parnia skeptic, but still a researcher
The Self Does Not Die; Verified Paranormal from Near Death Experiences By Titus Rivas, Anny Dirven and Rudolf Smit

Calm Wind are you aware there's a whole movement of people questioning the legitimacy of Daniels prophecies?
They believe the prophecies we're written at the time, or shortly after the "predicted" events.
You can't just be oblivious to things that go against your beliefs.
A truly open mind questions everything.

The book of Daniel was written sometime in 600 BC. But secular historians refuse to take the author for his word, because "God doesnt exist" so therefore, the book of Daniel must be a conspiracy forgery by some sneaky religious people <--- according to the secular historians. So they refuse to date Daniel any earlier than the manuscripts we have found. Those manuscripts date to around 200 BC.
However... there is evidence that the book of Daniel is telling the truth and was in fact written when it says it was written.
The name "Belshazzar" was ONLY found in the Bible, in the book of Daniel. Belshazzar was the last king of ancient Babylon and is mentioned in Daniel 5. Belshazzar reigned for a short time during the life of Daniel the prophet. This fact, and the very existence of "Belshazzar", was unknown to historians for thousands of years, including respected historians such as Herodotus, Megasthenes, Berossus, and Alexander Polyhistor, not to mention a vast number of cuneiform documents. All of these historical sources said that Nabonidus was the final King of Babylon, and they never spoke of Belshazzar.
And, so for a long time, historians thought Belshazzar was made up, and they believed that the Bible was clearly wrong.
Until the year 1854. Four clay cylinders were excavated, and for the first time outside of the Bible, the existence of Belshazzar was confirmed. The cylinders were prayers by Nabonidus for his son, "Belshazzar, the eldest son—my offspring"
Here is the link, to the "Cylinders of Nabonidus"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylinders_of_Nabonidus
And then in 1882, and also later, more and more evidence was found. The texts called Belshazzar the "crown prince" of Babylon city, because his father Nabonidus had left the city and left Belshazzar in charge as ruler. Thus confirming the claims of the book of Daniel, that Belshazzar was ruler and King of the city at the time.
Now, how did the "forgery" writers of the book of Daniel know about this 400 years later? No historian wrote it down, except for the book of Daniel. The Bible is the only book in world history where this fact was mentioned..
Here is another one for you :
The Hittites
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hittites
Once upon a time, the Bible was theonlysource for the existence of a people called the Hittites. The Bible also claimed they were a powerful and rich kingdom. Naturally, 18th and 19th century scholars said they didn't exist because their existence is only found in the Bible and nowhere else. If such a powerful kingdom existed, surely one of their respected historians would have written about it. They were skeptical. Francis William Newman is one of these famous critics that doubted the Bible's claims.
Francis William Newman is quoted as saying, even if the Hittites existed, "no Hittite king could have compared in power to the King of Judah...".
Except..... In 1834 and onwards, the archaeological discoveries started popping up. The Hittites existed. And not only did they exist, they were as powerful as the Bible described them to be.
Then the scholars had no choice but to say that the Hittites "[were] worthy of comparison to the divided Kingdom of Egypt", and was "infinitely more powerful than that of Judah"........
Another example of the Bible being doubted, and then being proved RIGHT, as the ONLY source of information to get it right. The only way for this to happen, is if the Bible is telling the truth.
