probably boxing + bjj. throw some kicks in there, and you'll probably deter most people from wanting to continue the fight.

I think boxing is good to start with, and then after you become proficient you can move onto Krav Maga or something. One of the good things about boxing is you can spar and practice and hone your skills. If you've never been in a fight before, even if you train martial arts, you're going to be nervous and that will **** you up. But if you practice sparring, you can get use to it and you won't feel nervous when it comes time to do it in real life.

1) That's not 130bls vs 215lbs. There's no way there is an 85lb weight difference there.
2) A real fight isn't going to have 1 fighter with 16oz gloves vs bareknuckles
1) vid description says 60kgs vs 98kgs
2)It was a friendly match per the description, I don't think anyone forced the boxer to wear gloves

Lol you have no idea about the philosophy of Krav Maga and what it is meant for. But I did some research and Krav Maga Alliance requires students who up for black belt to have one sport fight in Muay Thai, Kickboxing or MMA. So yeah, it's obvious you are one of those weekend warriors who watches UFC stuffing his fat face with chicken wings saying things like "Oh he should have kicked or he should have done this or that" being a couch coach.

krav maga is ****ing junk

boxing is the best is you are sparring alot, trade off is head trauma

wrestling/bjj (submission wrestling) is probably the best because you dont get brain damage and can take strikers down if you can avoid getting ko'd.

Muay thai IMO. Because boxers can't handle the clinch and a good elbow.

Football

That background would be a strong one to have for self defense purposes. No rules, rounds, weighs classes or gloves.

wrestling is definitely one of the top for self-defense in a street fight

the defense aspect of boxing won't help in a street fight. it helps if the person you're fighting think fights are all about punching the face which is what a simpleton would think.
I am sorry but if you are in a street fight why in the fk would you want to wrestle with somebody and take them to the ground? most likely you will get your head stomped in by his friends

If somebody who has put serious effort in to boxing, they can drop somebody with a 2 punch combo and then get the fk out of the situation

Then you don't know what Krav Maga really is if you think that's what it is.

Been doing martial arts since I was 8 years old, now doing it for over 16 years.
Hand to hand combat is useless, it's rarely life-threatening.
De-escalading the situation is always the best option, whilst being prepared for your plan B (running away).
You never get out of a knife battle unscarred.
If they have a gun, get very close or very far with object in-between you and the gun.
Never act tough, never fight for your pride, fight only to get yourself or a loved one out of a bad situation.
Never give that last kick to "teach them a lesson"; defend and get out of there.

Every aggressive encounter has a cause or purpose, get to those, be understanding or help and you will never get hurt.

I agree with you, but BJJ also teaches takedowns, self defense and throws. You could end a fight easily by taking someone down on concrete. I see videos of it online all the time. The only problem with boxing is that you HAVE to spar to get good at it, and sparring means head trauma and getting punched in the face. Boxing is necessary, but BJJ and Boxing reigns supreme.

I wrested for 4 years. Can confirm grappling will win you most 1 on 1 fights. Wrestle/ground and pound also means you dont really ever get hit.

But in a self defense situation, really you want to hit hard and fast and then gtfo.

Real life scearios: boxing

My 18 year old self: may thai dude flying knee and drop them.

That really depends, most BJJ schools don't get real into that and most BJJ practitioners suck at takedowns (although compared to your average untrained person...). This is why part of me kind of considers Judo a better "self defense" grappling style - assuming one is training at a place that doesn't neglect the ground stuff and does Randori.

MMA or basically some boxing and some BJJ or wrestling combination.

You really dont want it to go to the ground. Youre basically at the mercy of the onlookers. will they break it up or are his friend going to be kicking you in the head? That is why all of that isnt worth it. I used to be in playground fights all the time as a kid but its not worth it as an adult.

I always answer this when women (rarely fast enough to run away) ask me what to do in a life threatening situation.
Focus only on the eyes and nuts. The moment they are down, run and scream. Bad eyesight/ a few kicks in the nuts shut down any man in a matter of seconds for at least 10 seconds.
