Ive found those who give great advise/wisdom, etc rarely apply it in their own lives.

That’s 100% true. It’s easy to give advice when your own ego isn’t at stake so you can be as rational and harsh as you possibly can when it’s another person.

Doctors don't exactly start making cold calls to patients advertising pills and pushing it on them. You literally have to schedule an appointment. Go pay to be checked out. Complain about your issue. Then a doctor tells you about a medication that can treat your issue. Asks you if you want it. Prescribes it. Which you have to go fill at a secondary location. Then willingly and repeatedly take it.



People go to the doctor to complain about depression, anxiety, etc. They are going to get prescribed pills. Not to be given life advice and be told to man up. Its easy to blame doctors and the pharm. industry. But the truth is they make a product to treat symptoms. And doctors treat said symptoms by prescribing that product.



For scope if I'd have whined about depression, anxiety, not being able to focus/pay attention in school, etc. My father would have knocked the sh!t out of me and told me to man up. Now days you've got little kids prescribed a bunch of pills and people think its completely normal to go get a script to 'fix' some minor issue.


It really doesn't seem like the pills fix anything in the long run. If anything conditions seem to get worse when people build a tolerance and need to change their medication around. Or they become dependent. Etc. I never could understand why people are so quick to take a bunch of pills.

It is ironic, but not surprising. He has acute self-awareness of the issues of addiction so he is able to empathize with addicts along with his natural intelligence make him an expert.

I hope he overcomes his problems, he is a very prominent and inspirational mind and has helped millions of people in their own lives. Just because he's a great thinker does not mean hes immune to human issues like addiction, imo that does not impact his credibility at all. There are numerous great thinkers historically who wrestled with addiction and other vices, theyre only human after all.

1 therapy/counselling/etc
2 medication
3 what goes on in your head - the broad scope of who you surround yourself with, work and home and hobbies and your overall approach.

Ideally you want to just go through life with 3 but sometimes you need to dip into the other resources.
Counselling required self activation and has waiting lists and requires more effort. So people go after the pills.

Benzos are a vicious drug and should not be prescribed for sleeping, anxiety or stress. They should be plan F.

Interesting post brah... I was on k-pin in college everyday for 5 months because of generalized anxiety disorder... it took me about three months to wean off it, and can confirm that trying to cut back cold turkey (or even halve your dosage) is horrible.

I actually still can get k-pins from a doctor for public speaking, and have about 30 pills ATM. I take .5mg on a one-off basis now and then, and have no problem with it. But I was a daily experienced user and know how dangerous that good anxiety free feeling can be.

2 weeks isn't long enough for it to have much effect on anything. Takes like 6 weeks for it to start becoming fully active. I ran out of it for a week and on Friday randomly quit a job I only had for a month and thought about pulling the trigger. srs. This happens like once a year because I forget to take it.

Took my normal dose friday, saturday and sunday and already have an interview lined up for tomorrow.

srs does the fact that that drug impacts you so negatively if you stop for a week not concerning at all to you?

some of you are pretty twisted to relish when a guy is fighting some serious demons. he was sick and needed help. i actually commend him for seeking help; so many people ignore their depression (or not aware of it) and end up killing themselves. it takes a lot of will power to seek professional help. unfortunately, he got addicted to benzos. its not his fault; he's a statistic, just like the millions out there that are addicted to pain killers.
