How's this... I'm not a tradie, but I bet you couldn't learn any of the trades in 2 weeks (HVAC, Electrician, Vehicle Mechanic etc).

I'm a mechatronic maintenance engineer... the only way you learn my job is by years of taking things apart and putting them back together (and that is a very watered down description).

Yeah, you could probably do some sales and office jobs with fairly little training, but when you need actual experience, you're phucked...

The sad part is OP is pretty bang on.

The VAST majority of jobs are such a joke. Once people actually stop to think, and realize that about ~5% of the workforce is providing 90% of the innovation, engineering, scientific research / discovery, etc then maybe they'll reconsider their thoughts on tax rates lol.

Actually lets be generous and use the standard 80/20 rule.

These people who worked their asses off, who are doing extremely difficult chit (me) that can't be taught to most people even on an unlimited timeline, contribute the most in terms of productivity, innovation, create technologies you ALL use and benefit from.....and yes we STILL have to pay the MAJORITY OF TAXES.

This is BS.....the plebs should pay *us* a tax for being allowed to use all our awesome stuff. A stupid tax. We'll call it "If you're stupid enough to play the lottery, which is effectively a tax on stupid people already, you are double stupid and have to pay this extra stupid stupid tax".

At my job you're expected to have a core competency about Information Technology and Security fundamentals, without that you're dead weight shadowing. Someone far removed from those industries/educations would have to learn everything from how different OS' differentiate / why that matters, to how to find and interpret meaningful logs to make conclusions about what occurred in a network environment (and act on those conclusions). I don't think that's a 2 weeks, or even 2 months, feat. But if you're determined, intrigued, and willing, you can probably get to a good place from scratch in a solid 6 months.

yeah...you are one of those people. I'm not hating on firefighters, they obviously perform a valuable service to society. But anyone who is young / healthy enough can learn the very basics in a couple weeks / months.

Firefighters are drastically overpaid, which is why Firefighters are in a closed community, if your Dad was a firefighter you're a firefighter, it's why unless you're a minority / diversity hire, you can't even get a chance to try out. Which tells you everything you need to know.....it's waaaaaaay overpaid for the work / skills required.

I said 2 weeks not 2 minutes, and I'm eating so no time to research. Give me 2 weeks and I'd have this covered. If this is the hardest scenario you can think of fukin lol.

not a lawyer, but aren't emergency orders usually filed if a child's life is in danger from said parent?

You wouldnt be able to learn the What, the vocabulary and names of hardware, nor the How, using it and other machinery correctly, in two weeks, most people cannot even obtain mediocre skills two years, to say nothing of the physical and mental requirements. And you wont have come close to the Why and when aspects. There is a reason fields are called skilled trades. Youd probably be booted off the site before you got a chance with that attitude though

Lmao you are so mistaken it's hilarious. First of all most city firefighting jobs is all based upon civil service exam. There is no favoritism and no my dad was a firefighter so I get to be one too. You have zero clue the **** we do/put up with in order to earn that pay. I'm not gonna get into with you but you are wrong on many ideas.

Emergency order is for srs bzness like child's welfare or health and takes effect immediately. Not a lawyer, but expert in google fu.

or the parent with the child leaves the state without consent/permission from the other parent. That would be a kidnapping charge. Also, if a parent who’s time it is not say picks the child up from school without the other parent knowing, again kidnapping. And it’s any type of immediate physical danger to the child would also be grounds

wrong the child’s life could be in no danger if the parent takes the kid of state lines without permission. Or picks up there child when it is not their visitation time, but denying visitation is not

Yes I could learn that in 2 weeks too. I know young teens doing internships/apprenticeships for peasant change and that climb the ladder fairly fast. Once you have a firm grasp and foundation, everything just clicks together and it requires critical thinking and maybe a slight bit of research. But 2 weeks is fine for this occupation.
